I see 5 challenging games

For the Sixers? How do you figure? The 2 Hawks games and the Heat? Not even sure if the Heat will care about that game by then. What are the other 2 games?

Why wouldn't the Heat care? The race to avoid the play in games will be tight until the very end.

The other 2 are Indiana and San Antonio

5 'tough' games but they won't lose all 5.

Because it is one of the last games of the season and that may all be settled by then. It may not be as well. Just saying, late saying games are often less compelling than people would think.

That's one of the reasons the NBA went to the play in game. Unlike previous years where teams wouldn't care at the end of the season if they finished 6th or 7th, now you have to play out until you're officially out of that play in game. HCA matters too so the only way I see the Heat not playing their guys in that game is if they're locked into a seed

A win tmr vs Atlanta would be huge. Would give Miami the H2H tiebreaker over 2 teams they're fighting with for seeding (NYK & ATL)

If Miami handle their business the rest of the way, I think they end up at 40-32 which should be good enough for the 4/5 seed.

Yep I friggin' love the new play in format. Why not? Who cares who the 7 and 8 seeds are?

Sounds like Porzingis might have a nasty ankle sprain. They just got back to the 6th by beating the Lakers tonight and now he could be out for awhile. Gonna be hard to hold onto that spot to avoid the play in

7 vs 10 and 8 vs 9 instead of 7 vs 8 and 9 vs 10
Disagree completely. You know why they do it this way, right? Your way makes it no big deal to finish 10th vs 7th. The way it is now, the 7 & 8 seeds have 2 tries to win one game. The 9 & 10 seeds have to win two in a row. As it should be. I love it

You can keep the same format in my idea.

Say if the 7 seed win the first game then the 10 is eliminated. If the 10 win the 1st game then we go to a deciding game.

The higher seeds shouldn't be facing each other IMO

This current format rewards the lower seeds for finishing with a worse record than the 7/8.

So now as a 10 seed, I probably get to face a team with almost an identical record as us instead of facing the 7th seed who is probably a good 4-6 games better in the regular season. Win 2 games vs the 7 or 8 seed if you think you belong in the playoffs

This current format brings more excitement because you're locked in for that win or go home game but my idea is probably more fair to the 7/8 seeds

And more excitement is all that matters here. Who gives a shit about the 'fairness'? Any one of these teams is cannon fodder. It's got the fun of the play in game in the NCAA tournament, one and done, the only thing better about college basketball. Gotta be one and done for 9 & 10. Glotta reward 8 vs 9/10. I'm all in on this.

Ok, but in your method what happens if the 8 seed loses to the 10 in the 2nd game?

Is the 10 in and the 7 and 8 have to play for the last spot? Or is the 7 that lost first just out? What if the 9 and 10 seeds both win? Then you have a real mess.

If the 7 and 8 play first, it is 1 win and in. Then the losing team only needs to beat an “inferior” opponent in the 2nd game to secure their spot.

The scenarios are much cleaner with the 7 playing the 8. And either way the lower seed has to win 2 in a row. Having the top 2 seeds play each other is actually the best way to give them the advantage.

Bucks shooting 66% tonight. Sixers on the back end of back to back with no Simmons and Toby back after missing several games.

I'm not terribly upset even if they lose both games. The remainder of the Sixers has them play only 2 games against teams with a winning record. The Nets have 7. The Bucks remaining schedule is pretty easy outside of their 2 against the Nets and Sixers. But still hard for them to come back 4 games with 12 to play. Probably have to 10-2 at worst.
3 pt defense last night made me nauseous. I disagree on Saturday. I think it’s a must win for the one seed.
