Any of you guys here ever read Ender Games and any of the sequel/prequel books? I just finished the 3 sequels to Ender's game and started reading some of the prequels.

They are pretty crazy. Really good too.

so you lost a guys Bird Rights for nothing. Not something to be very happy about on a team thats capped out and that has 3 players and a bunch of dudes.

not saying Schroeder is great- but there is no debating hed easily be the Lakers 4th best guy.

They should have offered him at least 1 year 12M if only to keep the Bird Rights and trade possibilities open and guard against injury. Now those opportunities are lost.
He wouldn't be our 4th best guy....LOL.

He was a cancer in the locker room and has been on a bunch of teams in the last 4-5 teams......there's a reason for that and Boston is about to find out why.

I mean- maybe. I really like the Monk signing.

As for guys like ellington, bazemore, ariza, melo- we shall see how much they have left in the tank.

I do like the Howard signing too I have to say. I think he has played good basketball the last couple years and still have something left in the tank.

I would rather have those guys be back of the rotation guys- then middle of the rotation- and some of them starting I am sure either at the beginning or at times during the season.

I do have to say- Nunn and Monk are the guys that really do intrigue me since the are young, can grow, and will see more open shots than they ever have before.
How much run are they actually going to get? They’re both subpar defenders and Vogel seems to really want to stress the importance of a defensive culture. I don’t know that this was a great spot for them but at the same time, when you’re paying 3 guys more than any other set of triplets in NBA history, you do what you have to do. They essentially put a sign up saying come here for the minimum and chase a ring with LeBron but very little focus was placed on fit. They weren’t able to attract two way guys that fit Vogel ball. Anybody who fits that description is old and on the back end like Ariza. The rest of the guys are just one way players.

Who would be the Lakers 4th best guy if not Schroeder?

lol typical WiggityWack trying to throw shade on teams he's jealous of...

ain't like the Cavs are gonna do anything for the foreseeable future...
They are the probably faves in the EC to be drafting in the lottery again?

LOL.

Yikes. That’s a debate as to whether Melo > Schroeder.
Well going by last season I would have to give that to Melo. Almost 5 3's a game at 41%. You would have to think he should get plenty of open shots too

I don’t think it’s tenable that he continues to perform at that level.

right. Monk is a microwave offensively- but defensively he is atrocious. Nunn has had some nice moments with the Heat but gets lost sometimes.

I cant ever remember a roster being this top heavy. Add to that LeBron's age, Davis' injury history, and Westbrook's skillset and its a highly combustible combination.

the Bucks have guys that really fit together outside of their top 3. The Nets have a guy like Joe Harris who is perfect and in his prime.

The Warriors have their Big 3--- but also have Wiggins who is a very good NBA player in his prime- another wing in Otto Porter Jr. who is still in his prime and has a very nice skill set--- and 2 very talented rookies.

Even with the Heat- if you consider Butler, Lowry and Bam a "Big 3"- have Hero, and Duncan Robinson.

If you consider the Nuggets Big 3 Jokic, Murray and Porter Jr- they still have Gordon and Barton.

the lakers def. have something we have never seen before in that way. We have never seen a Big 3 take up so much payroll that they cant even pay a 4th guy, let alone 5th guy. It will be interesting to see how it works out.

I have never seen a team that has a Big 3 like the Lakers and then such a large dropoff. They just arent stablilzed by having that 4th and or 5th guy who is still a real legit NBA starter quality player in their prime. The Cavs had TT in that role.

dude, Melo is 37 and was out of basketball for a while . Schroeder is 27 and was coming off a season in OKC where he was just under All Star caliber. Schroeder is still a strong defender while Melo couldnt guard a one legged man.

Melo is going to be a nice addition if he can keep his revival going and hit some open 3's he is sure to get- but its no contest as to who is the better NBA player at this point.

With guys like James, AD, and Westbrook.....he is going to get wide open looks.....and the last 2 seasons in Portland were his best 3 point shooting since 2014 (Knicks)......with the guys they had on Portland. With the Lakers big 3 his looks will even be better.

"It took a long time for Carmelo Anthony to find a home. It actually spanned a full calendar year."

typically its not a good sign when you are 35 and are unsigned for basically a full calendar year. To Melo's credit he woke up and realized it could be over and became a nice little role player playing 24 minutes a game last year.

Syracuse, N.Y. – On Nov. 8, 2018, Carmelo Anthony scored two points in 10 minutes during the Houston Rockets’ loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Rockets had signed Anthony the previous summer as a veteran presence to use alongside James Harden and Chris Paul. It was immediately obvious that Anthony was a poor fit with the ball-dominant Harden.

The early November loss to the Thunder was Anthony’s 10th game with the Rockets. It would also be his last.

He was listed as either Inactive or Did Not Dress for every game over the next two months. On Jan. 22, 2019, Houston finally traded Anthony to the Chicago Bulls for Tadija Dragicevic and $1.56 million in cash.

Nine days later, the Bulls waived Anthony.

And that was it.

Anthony’s NBA career seemed to be over. No team appeared interested in the 10-time All-Star. The man who had a career scoring average of 23.6 points per game.

The 2018-19 season ended without Anthony signing anywhere. The summer came and went. The 2019-20 season started and still Anthony was unwanted.

He appeared at Syracuse’s season-opener, sitting courtside as the Orange took on reigning national champion Virginia at the Carrier Dome. Adam Weitsman apparently had Anthony’s number even if no NBA team did.

Finally, on Nov. 19, 2019; over a year since his last appearance with Houston, Anthony signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Portland Trail Blazers at the veteran’s minimum of $2.1 million.
