I'm rooting for Saint John because eff the Oil Kings, eff the Cataractes, and the OHL can pound sand :D

Can't argue with those types of facts.

Sea Dogs and Cataractes find themselves in a role reversal from 10 years ago when the Sea Dogs were Q champs and the Cataractes were the hosts that got upset early in the Q playoffs. I always say it's tainted if you don't win your league but in the Sea Dogs last 2 trips to the Memorial Cup in 2012 and 2017, it was the hosts who got eliminated from their league playoffs early that ended up winning. So I feel like we paid our dues and I'll take a tainted victory.

The Sea Dogs dominated the 2nd half of the regular season winning their last 15 and something like 27 of their last 30, then caught the flu just in time for the playoffs. So it's not like they were a mediocre team all season long. And now they're likely the healthiest of the 4 teams. Hired UNB's head coach who has been extremely successful in these types of tournaments. I definitely wouldn't call them the favorites but I like their chances.

I just thought of another reason you have to cheer for the Sea Dogs, 3 Flames draft picks.

Jeremie Poirier
Yan Kuznetsov
Ryan Francis

I saw a tweet somewhere today showing how , through the years , the cataractes logo has gone the reverse of pc lol
Yeah they seem to have escaped cancel culture's radar so far. But apparently there were some tweets after last night's game with their fans doing the tomohawk chop when they score and their goal song is the old Atlanta Braves chant from the 90s.

Hate 3 on 3 for OT in the memorial cup. Shouldn't be a thing IMO. On the bright side Edmonton broke the WHL champion losing streak in the Memorial Cup. Forget the exact number of games the streak was but pretty sure it had reached double digits.

Yeah if it's tied late, they likely pull their goalie.

Similarly for SJ, they need a regulation win to get the bye to the finals. An OT win and they still have to play the semis. Depending on how many points Edmonton gets tonight, the Sea Dogs could risk dropping to 3rd and losing last change in the semis if they pull the goalie late in a tie game. They'd likely do it anyway if it comes to that.

Nice comeback by the Sea Dogs today, down 3-0 in the first period, win 5-3 and they've punched their ticket to the final on Wednesday. Dufour scores four including a natural hat trick.

Been sitting next to a couple Oil Kings fans all week. Great guys. If the Sea Dogs were eliminated I was going to cheer for them. Great hockey fans. Anyone but Shawinigan!

But yeah! On a minor league level, I'd never cheer for any Moncton team, so I get it.

Islanders have a hell of a player. No clue how he was left off Team Canada.
