I mean, I say this only seeing Embiid in a handful of games this season but the guy comes across as lazy and disinterested on D at times....and, yes, he's more worried about being on a poster than playing tough D sometimes.

Must be why he’s been on the all defensive team the last three seasons

Sure does. I already offered in this thread how Jokic can grab 2 more boards a game than Embiid. Denver doesn’t ask Jokic to be a part of switching everything. He can’t switch onto a wing on the perimeter the way Embiid does. This will often move Embiid away from the lane, while Jokic is parked there because he only has defensive value in that area.

If I’m talking to someone and they put forth the idea that these two players are comparable defensively I’m sorry but that’s a litmus test for me that reveals the person I’m talking to is just a casual fan who doesn’t really know what they’re talking about.

I mean, that Simmons fellow played a role for a while as did Butler (wasn't he there in their best season?). Not sure Morant has anyone close to that level as a teammate.

Butler was there for 4 months and he pushed back against the culture being developed. And in hindsight we are finding out that Ben Simmons kept to himself and didn’t want to fuck much with the group. Morant is having a great year and will be the MIP. In fact, if we didn’t have the first center since Shaq in 99-00 I could see him winning the MVP.

He can regularly switch and hold his own on the perimeter against guards and wings. He is one of the best rim protectors in the NBA. He has been on multiple All Defensive teams. He has been a top 3-5 candidate for DPOTY over the last 3-4 seasons.

These two players aren’t even comparable as defenders.
