He's done a good job this year?

He's done what he could with the roster that he was handed.

Vogel didn't make the Westbrook trade.
Vogel isn't the reason that they had to take flyers on guys like Bazemore, Ellington, DJ and Avery Bradley who have all either flat out sucked or haven't had the anticipated impact.
Vogel isn't the reason Kendrick Nunn hasn't even put on a uniform this year.
Vogel didn't cause the injuries to AD and Lebron.

And that's the problem and why this is on Lebron. While Hield may not be a star, he would be a far better fit and it's unlikely the Lakers are in this current mess. By insisting on Westbrook...he created the situation that led to this current roster.

How much better are the Lakers with Hield? Maybe they're .500? They still have AD's injury, Nunn's injury, and an old and unbalanced roster. Maybe they still have KCP or Harrell (rumored trade was Kuzma and one of those two along with #22) in the mix to help, if not dealt in a separate trade last summer. Harrell only opted in to be traded.

I specifically remember debates on here if the Big 3 era was a success, and there was debate around 4 Finals trips straight, that resulted in two titles, and if that was a failure. We won't even bring up Golden State's recent run.

Obviously there are specific cases that might prove otherwise, but we can all agree that Lebron's superfriends team and the record setting Warriors are both outliers, correct? For at least 25 franchises, getting any championship in any given decade is nearly a miracle.

They are a lot better because Kuz was going to Sac for Hield.

And with Hield and KCP....they wouldn't have needed to sign guys like Ellington, Bazemore, Bradley, etc.

Didn't LeBron want Westbrook traded for Wall? If so is it his fault that trade didn't happen?

You're kidding, right?

Wall is a worse version of Westbrook who hasn't played all year and the Rockets wanted the Lakers 2027 first round pick. That would have been a very stupid trade that would have done exactly nothing to improve the team or enabled to get additional help via trade or the buyout market.

That 1st round pick can be used in a trade that actually helps the team or to be used in 2027 if they need it. It's literally one of about 3 assets that the Lakers have for their future. You don't trade that for John Wall.

Ellington and Bradley....those guys with almost the same 3% as Hield this year?

Yeah Lebron is going to want a lot of things at some point the GM needs to be the GM and he hasn’t gotten the job done. I think he certainly could have traded Russ at the deadline as well. This didn’t all start with Russ though, even before

If they were .500, they wouldbe ina far better position than they are now and would be set up for, hopefully, building momentum going intothe playoffs instead of being 7 games under.500 and looking at missing the playoffs entirely.

And as you mentioned, maybe they still have guys like KCP,Caruso, etc. They wouldn't have Kuz because he was in the Hield trade that Pelinka had ready to go.

Hield would be shooting 40-42% with the looks he would be getting with James and AD.

Hield would also be playing a lot more than Bazemore and Ellington combined. So his percentage would have more of an impact

Wall for Westbrook was where the Lakers did say no. From Jeanie on down, the message has been..."We're not trading away any more of our future. This is what you wanted. Deal with it".

You can make the argument that they have already traded away so much of their future that it really doesn't matter at this point and I would tend to agree.

But you don't trade it away for a package that isn't going to make a difference. They were looking at trading one bad contract for an equally bad contract and giving up a first round pick for the privilege.

No he most certainly is not, at a minimum KD is better than him, and it’s not close. Others have a case.

Lebron can still be the best player in the NBA for short spurts (a game, maybe even 2 games, a half, etc.). But he can no longer be the best in the NBA for any significant length of time.

Agree with this - Wall for RW barely moves the needle for the Lakers. Plus, Wall hasn't even played this year, Westbrook is at least healthy comparatively. Plus, giving up a 1st rounder? That would be just dumb.

That trade made no sense whatsoever,. The Lakers were correct to not take an a player that hasn't played a game yet all season. Now in the summer time, it might, but I think they have to give Westbrook the chance to turn it around before The trade deadline next year.

Yeah, it makes me laugh when people try to act like not making that trade was somehow a bad thing.
