Agree.Embiid when healthy over a full season. That's yet to happen though
Yessir. You can't go wrong with either player. But what's that saying- availability is the best ability?
Embiid has never played more the 64 games in a season, and didn't play at all his first two seasons. Jokic has played at least 72 games each season of his career. Jokic is more dependable. I'm going with him.
He’s a great player. World class. Top 5-10 in the league and a guy you can truly build a franchise around. And I’m not even debating close vote, wide margin. We have to pick one and for me it’s clear who the pick is. In case it’s perceived that way, I’m not saying Jokic is a dog or anything. I’m even impressed with the work he’s put in to become an average defensive guy who can play in the context of a team’s system and do his part. You can argue that based on God given athleticism Jokic has broken the ceiling on upside and done more with less than about anybody in the league. That’s seen in where he was drafted. But you have to pick one and I think the thing that ends the debate is on the vast gap on the defensive end. I’ve also said that my own personal criteria values defense and have also said this is traditionally an award that skews heavily offense so I admit others may not place the value of 2 way play as high as I do.That's why he lost it for sure.
But, I agree with @tlance about them being close.
In a perfect world where Embiid didn't have a injury history, I'd take him over the Joker.
His scoring and defense is superb.
But, Jockic is no slouch as a scorer and his passing is Elite.
They are 1a and 1b in the Center debate.
I prefer Joel. But, anyone taking the Joker couldn't be accused of crazy talk....imo
It seems like what you’ve established here is that I’m consistent in the way I view stats. Weird. But thanks for that. It's a 100% homer take on your part. There's no doubt about it.
And here's a perfect example of you going by your heart instead of paying any attention to the head to head stats this season. You're the only one incorrectly saying those numbers I posted are for...
You said that exact same foolish homeristic nonsense last season when I pointed out Jokic played every game, Embiid missed a bunch of games. Jokic led the league in double-doubles & was second in trip-dub.
And this season Jokic again has more double-doubles & trip-dubs. But you seem to think comparing their stats means nothing. Which is very bizarre.
Or how about he could be the first 5 to lead the league in scoring since Shaq in 1999-00.I will openly admit I favor the guy with the better post game on offense and that is Embiid. I just like that Embiid can play like the old school centers when needed. On the defensive end there really is no comparison.
Ha! Thanks for reminding me. I saw one of those defensive stat rankings somewhere (probably here) and they had fucking Steph Curry ranked ahead of Draymond Green. Haha Da fuq? There are holes in all these stats. Let me ask, why would anyone ever trust any number that would ever see Jokic and Embiid as comparable defensive players? Those numbers are a measure of pace, scheme, personnel around the rest of the team, a coach’s rotations, what the player is asked to be in the scheme, etc…Yeah I agree defensive Embiid is better but I am not huge into advanced stats but both players have a 104 defensive rating which was surprising.
He also leads in defensive win shares 3.1 to 2.7 and dpbm 4.6 to 2.3 which is a large difference.

One of your stats was plus minus you were throwing around. That’s a quasi-individual stat that is more team dependent than individual dependent. That’s one of many reasons why a purely stats based analysis is innately flawed. The gaps in those stats represent very little. Sorry. I’ve invested a great deal of time in being a sports fan and a student of the game so I place more trust on my eyes and what I observe than I do gaps in categories of stats.
Ayton, Nurkic, Turner, Wood, Mitchell Robinson, Holmes.I really hope the Hornets take a shot at Ayton in the off-season. I feel like we are only 1 or 2 guys away from being a real contender in the East.

I picked Embiid too.
This is sorta the who was better Duncan or Kobe and Duncan or Malone Debate.
The answer is Duncan.
1. Because I hate Malone and I hate the Lakers.
2. Because Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimmy played defense.
And who do you think I’m talking about when I refer to guys who played soccer on the JV team as seniors? Sports writers that vote on this stuff. They lean on stats cause they don’t know what they’re looking at.The funny thing is all those head to head numbers for this season that I mentioned in comment # 14,743 are all things the MVP voters will take into consideration when it's a tight race. But the numbers don't matter, just your own personal eye test?
Looks like the tag team of Dwight Howard & DeAndre Jordan will see a significant increase in minutes now.
