And who do you think I’m talking about when I refer to guys who played soccer on the JV team as seniors? Sports writers that vote on this stuff. They lean on stats cause they don’t know what they’re looking at.

Are you saying that your opinion about a player on your team holds more weight than professional sports writers that follow the entire league? I have never seen someone repeatedly insist that head to head stats means nothing.

That is a great point.

Stats do matter, but as you say, they are all flawed in 1 way or another.

Let’s be fair. Is that what I said? Nope. I’m pushing back on arguments that are purely based on stats. Doesn’t that apply to every post of yours on this topic? It all leans exclusively on stats.

I don’t want to see my opinion get warped either (not referring to you; I’m referring to Wamu’s post). I never called stats meaningless. I’ve called some of them incomplete and flawed and I’ve pushed back on any argument that leans exclusively on those stats.

Stats aren’t meaningless.

However, the average sports writer doesn’t know the game of basketball in the same way that insiders who played it and coached it do.

That is just the truth.

Some are very knowledgeable. Many are knowledgeable on surface value only.
Enough to write about it, not enough to truly analyze what they see when they are watching it.

I wanted it more for the hilarious irony, but it would actually make some basketball sense now for them to sign Enes Freedom. He'd fit in decently considering how much Vogel is gonna play Lebron at the 5.
You mean " Nobel Peace Prize " nominee, Enes Freedom?

I said the same the other day.

If winning is all that matters, LeBron should have no problem, right?

All I've been trying to say is in a close MVP race I think for the people that decide who wins the award some of the stats will come into play. Both are having great seasons.

Once Harden realizes how ugly the strippers are in Philly he'll demand a trade before next years all star break.
It’s been awhile but Delilah’s has always had some big time talent and at Club Risqué they have strippers that will draw no lines as long as you pay for the private room.

Why doesn't he just open his own damn strip club business.
He could then put a franchise location in lots of NBA cities around the country.

Win Win.

This ranking is not in dispute. It’s a formality, a wave of the hand, a tip of the cap, an admittance of the obvious. The sky is blue. The earth is round. Michael Jordan is The Athletic’s NBA 75. The best player in the 75-year history of the NBA. Case closed. There is no next. There is only one, and it’s Jordan.
