"Welcome to being an NBA superstar." - Lebron James
I hear ya but every so often I have these moments of clarity and I step back and assess things. KD is an all timer with an incredible legacy. But for some reason we grant value to no talent ass clowns like Stephen A Smith who has never gotten a bucket in his life. You can critique a game and stuff like that but hacks coming at a player’s legacy? Doesn’t sit well with me.

Not career defining. He has 2 titles and would have 3 to 4 had he not tore his achilles/harden and irving injuries last year. It is career defining for harden more than anyone.
Durant's choice to leave a dynasty to go try to be an emo alpha with the unlikeable Harden and the lunatic Irving is going to be a major part of his career "story", win or lose.

I do understand why he left, that last year was pretty joyless in Golden State.

I get that and as I said, I'm no Stephen A. fan either. But, I just don't think he's wrong about this. KD will be known for being a great player, etc. but he will also be known as the guy who left, arguably the most unselfish superstar in history to go play with Kyrie. Basically, it'll be something along the lines of "KD could have won X more titles, but..."

It's no different than how, despite being in the discussion for G.O.A.T., Lebron will also be known for "team hopping" to get to an easier situation.

KD is not going to lose anything by leaving a situation in which he won titles to get away from a guy like Draymond that made him so unhappy. Even if he doesn’t get another title he wins by at least trying to do what he is doing. After how he left his first team he had to try this.

He had to leave for the same reason bron had to leave Miami
Bosh was hurt, Wade was declining. Sure Klay got hurt but they absolutely would win 2-3 more easily. It was a given, honestly they even without Klay but I also get Draymond was a punk

I mean, good coach or no, how do you expect a rookie coach who hasn't ever coached on any level run that madhouse in Brooklyn? Also he's not good. Add him to the list of superstars who can't coach. I guess too soon to judge but p-u
The Nets are trying to replicate the Dubs success.

They were hoping Nash would be the next Steve Kerr.

Despite his Coaching deficiencies, that was never going to happen when you have a megalomaniac, Kyrie Irving, staring in the Chef Curry role.

Plus, they forgot a very important ingredient : Defense.

An engaged Harden can get buckets. But, he isn't stopping anyone on defense.

Healthy Klay used to give you both.

They are closer to this years Lakers , with all those old guys , than any Warriors squad.

He would have been called a front runner the rest of his career had he stayed with the warriors

He doesn't look like it to me.

Yeah but he's a sophomore. Next year is huge for him.

Everyone out of that HS seems to be really good and end up making the league. I think there's one on your clippers and Memphis got a good one as well

The most surprising signing of all of them.

He had played pretty well for Charlotte last season and was so young for the Hornets to basically have given up on him, Every team needs shooters. He has been a blessing this season.
He wasn't good in Charlotte his first 2 Seasons.

He showed flashes.

But, with Ball, Rozier, Martin x 2 , Bridges, Devote Graham, Hayward...

Too many wings, not enough minutes.

yeah the hornets didn't give up on him either. They were loaded as you said and he didn't show enough in his first 3 yrs to get the extension. He still played good minutes for them last season but bringing him back didn't make sense

DDr think he is a g-league and he gets limited minutes and he is pretty bad

In gleague on the Jazz squad but he won't make it. Might end up a career gleague player at best
Dangers of playing buddy ball.

Bad timing with Covid shutting down sports and when he played, he got overshadowed.

Bronny getting hurt didn't help.

Yeah Sierra Canyson is good and bad for these kids. Get you the exposure you're looking for but with all that talent, it is hard for you to get playing time especially when you play a similar position as Amari Bailey

It is an exaggeration

But Stephen A is correct to a point.

If KD stayed and won 4 titles with GS, he is knocking on the door of the top 5 all time.

He can still accomplish that (and maybe a little more) winning multiple titles in Brooklyn with all the drama there, but if he fails in Brooklyn he will likely have lost his shot at top 10 all time and be viewed somewhere in the Karl Malone, David Robinson neighborhood.

It isn’t legacy defining in the sense that he will be looked at as a bum if he fails, but it is in the sense that he has a chance to reach some truly rarified air. And IMO, he is a good enough basketball player to do it. But the resume is obviously lacking at the moment.
