And fwiw, I'm not calling for the guys job...only some clarification and the head office's intervention to do the right thing here.
I really don't even know if he's actually a G league official who got called up to the NBA for a short stint as a temporary replacement on an emergency basis due to possible covid/omicron protocols.....or if he is in fact merely just a "rookie" ref.
I think things may have been a bit worse if Miami had ended up losing that game...but they won..so that should lessen the blow somewhat.

That said: I hold the belief that the best refs, officials, judges & umpires in any sport are usually the ones you never hear about, and also the ones who just go about the business of being fair & impartial arbiters of the sport they happen to work in. Not the ones who go out of their way to make a name for themselves via ego, controversy, bias, or confrontation.

COVID replacement or not, he reacted emotionally to a situation when he didn’t have all the information. He assumed Lowry was throwing the ball at him when it is pretty clear he wasn’t.

It is obvious the ref made a mistake. The type of mistake that can effect the outcome of a game. He will be graded like all officials, and if he isn’t doing his job effectively, he will be done reffing NBA games.

Yeah they really need jamal Murray back. The Nuggets and Jazz are weird teams every year they do great things in the regular season then get bounced in the 2nd round of playoffs.

It is actually very complicated. Guy makes 1 mistake and you assume he is “bad at his job”.

Guess what? If he actually is bad at it, he won’t be doing it for long. But 1 mistake in a random regular season game does not define someone’s career or their value.
