You hit the main point and that’s what I was thinking about, he doesn’t seem like the guy that is going to be a 4th or 5th option and take less money. He can certainly play until he is 39 or 40 without doing that but 43-44, a highly doubt it. Plus taking that lower role is he willing to take less money, again I don’t see him being that guy. I doubt he even wants to play with his son but I think he wants to be in the league while his son is in the league, just another feat crossed off. He will most likely retire being a 1st or 2nd option, I could even see him as a 3rd option but that seems like the limit imoHe will be good enough to play and be productive at 45 barring major injury. He is that much of a physical freak.
But what role is willing to take?
If he is willing to be a teacher and play a bit more of a backseat, 30 minutes of 38-40 year old LeBron will still probably be better than any other FA Cleveland is likely to get.
I think there is more upside than downside risk for Cleveland.
