I only saw Walton in his last few years, not his heyday.

I did see his heyday and you're not wrong. He was special.

Had he stayed healthy, he'd be in the GOAT convo, imo. I freaking hated the guy at the time too...at UCLA, he beat my Trojans...then he went to the NBA and did the same to my Lakers before his feet fell off. He led the Blazers to a sweep of them in the 1977 WCF.

But that was pretty much the end of him playing anything close to regularly until a relatively brief stint with the Celtics where we got glimpses of how good he was before the injuries.

I can name all the NBA champs from '56 on without looking it up. NFL got all the S.B. champ memorized. MLB- terrible with that one. I follow it the least.
