This is why I'm not overly worried about the age of the Lakers roster. Obviously, I'd like a couple more young guys...but these aren't the days of Vlade smoking cigarettes in the locker room anymore. Most of these guys, especially the top level guys, spend 6 figures every year just on taking care of their bodies.
And why we see guys like KD (and soon to be Klay) come back from injuries that in the past would end careers, and look pretty much 100%

Westbrook can still be effective, but he needs to do his damage with the 2nd unit squad and have some floor spacing. Give him Monk and Ellington/Bazemore as his other wings. Let Melo be the 4. He absolutely cannot be playing with Rondo on the court at the same time. I don't get it at all.

I would go with the starters as last game. 1st quarter goes a bit longer with Lebron and AD and Westbrook an early pull for Rondo. Then you put the 4 mentioned above and use Dwight as the lob threat. You can do some damage there and let Westbrook play his natural role.
1st unit
Rondo, Baze/Bradley, Lebron, AD, DeAndre

2nd Unit
Westbrook, Monk, Baze/Bradley, Melo, Dwight

Ariza still out, I don't know where he fits in

Still wrong or not-yet-known on all of it Q. I'm curious about Klay, but not worried after seeing how well KD is playing. Wiggins is a good player on this team in particular, and I don't think we can decide yet if Ball over Wiseman was the right call. Again especially on this team. Fit matters.

The average age of the Lakers is younger than I thought. Only 30.

I mean…

Yes, but the FO chose to trade for Russ and sign Rondo when they already have LeBron.

Honestly, what lineup does Russ fit Well with?

Russ should be the primary ball handler when Lebron is off the floor leading the second unit so Lebron can rest longer on the bench. Lakers need to play to WB's strength not his weaknesses. Rondo should be used sparingly when Russ is in foul trouble.

What should Russ do when he's out there with AD and LeBron? As trojanfan says it will take time to figure it out but game 1 was ugly.

Yep. That's why I tend to laugh when folks say "Well, so and so from that era would be "just a guy", or "still good, but not like in his era", etc.

Like those players from other eras wouldn't use what players today use if it were available...

Take Magic, give him all of the training techniques, nutrition, medical advances, etc. that Lebron uses and you'd get...Lebron.

Take Lebron, limit him to what Magic had available to him and you get...Magic.
