Well LeBron wants to play for Cleveland in two seasons so he can play with his son. Why not play with Wizards and clue the Wiz into drafting his son? The Lakers get Beal and two first round picks. If I were Pelinka (and I am not), I'd do that deal like yesterday if it is legitimate. Then I'd take the cap savings and re-sign Monk.
Why would LBJ play for a dumpster-fire Washington team? And if they know CLE wants him in two years why would they deal Beal for him and LBJ would not get extended? None of that makes sense

Thanks...I've been saying this for a while, I think after this Laker contract is up he's ready to do his 'MJ on the Wizards' phase, play less minutes, mentor a young team. Cleveland would be a good fit for many reasons...good young core, lacking a wing, and of course it's LeBron.

I could see them winning a ring or two if he did that and then he's got 6 like you know who.

I agree. I really believe that James will not re-up with the Lakers this summer and he will inform them that he is seeking employment elsewhere. Much of that decision will depend on who the Lakers hire for HC going forward. I would not be surprised if he signs with Cleveland as a FA.

And I say... good riddance...

James has until the summertime to re-up as an extension even though his present contract expires at the end of the 2022-2023 season. The Lakers will probably not enforce a contractual requirement but may even release him outright if James WANTED that. I suspect that may be the case and we will find out in the coming months.

Well he's playing for a dumpster-fire of a franchise in the Lakers. Does that even make any sense?

Still another implying that it will be Cleveland.

They will only have enough cap space if they don't sign Sexton long-term, this year they definitely don't have the cap space. In 23-24 Lebron would be a FA, this would be the first year Garland's extension kicks in but only if they don't extend Sexton and/or LeVert otherwise Lebron would have to accept a lot less.

Well yeah that makes perfect sense but it's essentially a one year rental for Beal. Nobody in their right mind makes that deal. The most likely scenario is Lebron leaving LA in the 2023 offseason and the Lakers getting nothing for him. That's been his entire career. The only team that can really trade for him this offseason is Cleveland, possible, but CLE would have to give up assets to acquire him.

Yea I get it that James could finish the contract that expires at the end of the 2022-2023 season but if the article I posted is legitimate and the Cavs are leaning in that direction, than I suspect they will move contracts to get the cap space to pull it off. Again, their is a lot of speculation involved and only the principles really know what can or will happen. Everybody else has to engage a degree of speculation in their prognostications until the event actually occurs.

Agree no way to know....my guess is little to no chance the Cavs would clear the cap space needed to offer Lebron a huge deal. I also don't think the FO/Gilbert really wants him. But who knows?
