I can see it now.
Hall: I want to go to a contender.
Skinner calls him...
SKinner: Hey Hall why don't you come to Buffalo
Hall: When was the last time you played in a playoff game?
Skinner: .............................................
Hall: ....................................................
Skinner: .............................................
Hall: I'm IN!

Hall complained non-stop about wanting to go to a contender. Boston, Columbus, Colorado all express interest and he goes to Buffalo? Hall is a weird dude.
Guessing those teams were offering closer to $5M.
And he gets to do it all over again next season

Krueger factor may have helped, too

Some Flames fans wanted Calgary to sign Hall - I think Treliving dodged a bullet.
I can’t see the harm in a one year deal. Worst case scenario he only scores 20 goals, best case he picks up from where he was a few years ago and is a difference maker.

I guess I've never been much of a Hall fan (even including his Hart trophy season in Nee Jersey). Winning hockey just doesn't seem to accompany this guy.

My tune really changed on him this past season when he complained about the fans booing after they blew 2 leads and lost a game. If you can't handle valid criticism from 12,000 fans in a small market how are you going to handle a high pressure situation?

That’s fine but it doesn’t dismiss his talent and that’s all I really care about. Goals are hard to come by. One year deal is a pretty safe bet to make.

I’m not understanding this one at all.

Talk about a guy who never lived up to the hype.
Anyway is it a two-way deal? If so then no harm.

EDIT: Nope a one way deal. Yeah I don't understand it either.

You can bury it penalty free up to $1,075,000. No need for a two-way.

Simmonds’ deal scares me more.

Winning hockey doesn't show up in Buffalo very often either. Maybe they're hoping to open up some type of black hole of winning by putting losers together and having the universe be too confused?

You dodged a bullet? There was a rumor Jarmo's offer was 7 years.

Hall's got great skills, no doubt and can immediately improve any team he is on. But so far they have shipped out 4 goals and brought in 21 based on last year and arguably got better at faceoffs and on defense. And if the get Granlund that's another 17 (in a very down year) or Hoffman is 29 more.

I am just fine missing out on Hall. Still hope there is something else up his sleeve though.

This was about one thing and one thing only; convincing Eichel to stay.

Honestly, good on the Sabres and their fans. Enjoy it, could work out very well for you guys.

Looks like he will be the AHL goalie.
