He was the egg that we needed to break to make the omelet and get Dzingel in an attempt to keep Duchene (hindsight 20/20). We never wanted him gone. Yeah, he butted heads with Torts and had his typical late season dip, but he was Jackets hockey through and through. He is still super close with the guys too. He hung out here last offseason. Really good friends with Foligno and Atkinson especially.

I would love him coming back.

Tough spot for him. Guy is a solid and steady defensive C, who just never recovered from the Wilson hit. And his contract looked great for both sides, but buying him out saves us 4+m. Would love to keep him, but if him going gets us a key piece... well. Thanks for everything, Swedish Dreamboat.

Better options out there, honestly. Stars aren't going to keep Khudobin for example.

We'd probably let you have Korpi for Gusev. Take Dubinsky and we'd probably add a pick or two. He'll help get you to the floor.

Edit: maybe not. Did not realize Gusev is UFA next year.
