It isn't Kyle or a member of the Petty family, I forget the dude's name, but Richard has a partner that owns 2/3 of the team.

It hasn't truly been Richard's team since 2008, after he merged with Evernham in 2009 and it became RPM.

Richard is more of a figurehead, been that way for years like you said, but especially so in recent years. I mean he is in his 80s afterall.

It's not like its the Petty Enterprises team from way back anyway. A good chunk of that ceased to exist with the merger and more parts went away over time. They're in essence an RCR car now. They are literally housed on Richard Childress' team complex and all their equipment comes from RCR. RPM just assembles the cars and sets them up they way they want them.

(Tangent, that's also why RPM has ran a bit better this year, especially after the break. All the RCR cars have shown a bit more speed this year)

In the least surprising move ever, Erik Jones is out at Joe Gibbs after this season.

Christopher Bell is pretty much anlock for the 20.

The 95 team is closing after the season, which is sad, they’ve been around for a while. Hopefully somebody buys the team

Rumor is that Spire (#77) has purchased the team. Just what we need, more field fillers.

It could be a sign that Spire wants to get more competitive.

They have a win, and that’s more than a lot of teams can say

Musical chairs for 2021 seems to be shaping up:
Jones from the #20 to the #48
Bell from the #95 to the #20
Wallace either staying at #43 and becoming part owner or heading to #42
Bowyer possibly being replaced by Larson.
Dibenedetto possibly being replaced by Cindric.

Didn't get to watch the race yesterday, but Harvick tied Lee Petty on the all time wins list. Next win will tie him with Rusty Wallace. Shame NASCAR decided to go with the Chase and then playoffs, otherwise he'd be well on his way to a 4th championship.

Harvick sweeps the weekend and is now tied with Rusty Wallace for 10th on the all tie win list. One more win would tie him with Kyle Busch, but barring something totally unexpected, Kyle will wind up with more wins. But Harvick will retire 10th on the all time win list(He's 44, 21 more to catch Earnhardt is a tall order)

Also with a rough weekend, Reddick has likely forced himself into must win territory to make the playoffs.

Have an open roof on the end of my shop, kind of a covered patio. 5th wheel Montana is parked next to it.

Went out and watched the race on my basement tv on the Montana while sitting on the covered patio of my shop.

Almost like camping out.

My dog Gunner was thrilled to death, he loves the Montana and camping out so he sat right there next to me.

The Daytona Road Course is the next race, and I think this is a bad idea. First time the road course format has been used, and there’s no practice, it’s gonna be drop the green flag and good luck. It’s gonna be a crash fest. Remember the first Charlotte Roval race? That was with practice

I haven't looked at the lineups yet, but I would pick someone that is running either the truck or Busch race to win the cup race.

Austin Dillon tested positive for Covid and is out tomorrow. Good thing he has that win in the bags. Kaz Grala will substitute. Should have gone with Allmendinger since he drives part time for Kaulig Racing and Kaulig is pretty much an RCR satellite team.

That was about as bad of a lap as a team could possibly have for Kaulig Racing. Chastain breaks a transmission, Haley destroys the car and Allmendinger gets a lap penalty for pitting outside the box because the fuel can was still engaged(they make shit up as they go, because every other time that has ever happened in any series, it's been a tail end of the longest line for removing equipment from the box under caution, and a stop and go under green)

Really surprised none of the Cup guys decided to double dip. None ran the Busch race yesterday and none are in the Truck race today.

I figured at least Kyle Busch would yesterday to get an idea of the track and get a quicker jump on a setup.

I figured there would be a few. I mean, Tyler Reddick is on the bubble for the playoffs, and Richard Childress put some New Zealand road course master in the only car he fielded for the Busch race in a one off start, and he damn near flipped the car unassisted. That seat time would have probably been better used on Reddick.

Much cleaner first stage than I was expecting.

Did I just hear that NASCAR said no driver could run more then one event this weekend to keep anyone from getting an edge?

I'm shocked at how clean the race was. Less spins than you see at the familiar road courses, and the only real wreck was caused by mechanical failure.
