But the Coors thing is what inflates it...40% of Walker's plate appearances came with Montreal/St. Louis.

His outside of coors might have been good, but nothing there that screams HOF. He is still being judged mostly by his Colorado seasons. As that is what makes him a HOF contender.

But honestly, I dont think there is a 10 strong this year. And Helton is my last guy. I very well might put in Andruw Jones over Helton.

No borderline people until “Sweet” Lou Whitaker takes his rightful spot in Cooperstown.

As well they should. If Jackie Robinson couldn't muster a unanimous selection, then no one should. Ever.

Two wrongs don't make a right....these aren't the same people voting from the 1960s.

In all fairness to Walker, he hardly played any of his prime outside of Coors, so it doesn't necessarily need to scream HOF (his last season with Montreal was age 27, and he played with the Cards at age 37-38).

Him putting up borderline elite seasons at age 25 and 27 outside of Coors goes a long way imo....

I agree. But to be a hof you need to be judged by what you have done, not what you could have done.

Personally, when I look at who makes the hof, WHEN CLOSE, I like players who are great at something more than a player who is very good at multiple things. Both Helton and Walker’s specialties were getting on base. Helton’s career numbers are slightly better with significantly more PAs. Which for me is enough to take him over walker. Despite walker having better power numbers.

I think you are convincing me more and more to take Helton out of my 10 and putting in Andruw Jones instead.

Yeah they are. None are glaringly better than the other and where one is better in one catagory, the other is better in another.

Um, according to those 2 stat lines Halladay is better in every single one. ERA is a huge difference and ERA+ is big too. Which one is Pettite better?

Well since Babe Ruth wasn't unanimous, the whole idea of it is for shit.

Pettite has the postseason stats advantage, 5 world series titles, an ALCS MVP award and a 3 time all star. Halladay is an 8 time all star and a 3 time cy young winner. Halladay deserves it more, but I do think Pettite deserves it as well. W-L is practically identical, SO and ERA isn't that huge of a difference per season

All Pettite has is the ALCS MVP, the WS titles are a team award (Bonds has zero). Halladay has a far better ERA and way more AS appearances and 3 Cys to 0. It's not close. No one gets them all right, including you.

MN writer Sid Hartman is 98 years old, still alive, senile as hell and has a vote. So that's at least one of the same voters as 1962.

I think Pettite deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Simple as that. I think his stats and accomplishments are good enough to deserve it.

Fine but don't bring Halladay into it, doesn't help your argument.

Re: Steinbrenner-No one who has ever been banned from baseball, regardless of duration, has ever been inducted into the HOF.

Seems to be some support though, so will be interesting to watch.

Mays and Mantle. But they were both already in the hall when they were banned from baseball.

Can't wait to see who's gonna leave Mo off their ballot.

Cuz you know some jackass is.

3 guys left Griffey off. It's most likely 3 older jerkoffs who believe it's their duty to preserve the HOF and they will be gone in a few years. Hopefully that's the case anyways.

Anyone who doesn't vote for Rivera should have his ballot revoked. In past years that would apply to people like Griffey (99.3% closest to unanimous in history including Ruth and Williams and Mays), Randy Johnson (97%) and freaking Pedro Martinez (91%!!). Anyone who didn't vote for people like that is a douchebag.
