Their complaints boil down to one man: Dennis Robertson. Leonard's uncle, Robertson has long served as one of his closest advisors. The NBA, however, conducted a formal investigation into his conduct on Leonard's behalf after he signed with the Clippers, Sam Amick of The Athletic reports.

He was not found to have committed any violations, but the league is reportedly ready to reopen the investigation if new information comes to light.

The real question is, whether AD stays in LA or hits free agency (to possibly join Siakam in Toronto) after the Lakers will go 0-4 on Christmas eve and even more so, if they additionally drop the game against the Blazers on Sunday and go 0-5...

Kinda weird that Amick published this report now.

I was a little nervous until I realized this was investigated during the off season and was the catalyst for the NBA telling teams that tampering rules would be strictly enforced.

Apparently Lady Buss was unhappy that they were used for leverage to make the Clippers bend to his will....by giving up the farm for George.



Buss reportedly sensed "that the Lakers were being used as leverage to help Leonard get what he wanted out of the Clippers."


The NBA reportedly investigated the Clippers after complaints surfaced that Robertson was making improper requests during the free agency period.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver told The Athletic earlier this season that the league was "looking into activities from this summer." Sources said the NBA found no evidence that the Clippers granted any of Robertson's requests for improper benefits during its investigation.


"We did tell our teams [at the Board of Governors meeting in New York in late September] that we are looking into and continue to look into activities from this summer," Silver said. "I will also say that we [were] trying to draw a line at this board meeting, and focus everyone on the [free agency] rules going forward."

I don't think they did. If I remember correctly, it was why Adam Silver apparently has made a rule that only licensed agents can represent players in negotiations.

He doesn't want any more "Uncle Dennis's" who don't even know or understand the CBA.

Focus was more on the Clips because they got him and on the Lakers because it was between those 2 teams.

I don't think that's feasible considering everything from tickets to ad space for the TV partners is sold in advance. Most years it works out totally fine (minus their instance on putting the shitty Knicks on every year, which they finally corrected). It just so happened everyone is hurt this year

I think it can work. Announcing the games around Thanksgiving would be fine. Warriors and Pelicans wouldn't be on our tv tomorrow if games were announced in end of November

To have a flex system, obviously a number of other games would have to be scheduled, plus at different time frames.

Plus, how late can you really change anything? They're now saying that both Lebron and AD could miss the Christmas game. Apparently, there is also some speculation that Kawhi may not play as well.

Main Christmas Day matchup could be The Bald Mamba vs. PG-13.
