You understand that guidelines are just that...guidelines. They aren't set in stone and by definition can be adjusted as necessary.

If we were talking about rules that had to be done step by step and folks were doing things differently, I'd agree.

Maybe the guideline says to open restaurants and theaters at 25% capacity, but the numbers in an area say 50% should be good...why shouldn't that area be able to make that adjustment?

I'd even expect that there will be areas that may skip a guideline or 2 along the way, which would be fine if the numbers support it.

I agree.
I just never saw them amended or updated.

Corruption is everywhere, so if there is money to be stolen it will be.
No way it can be totally accurate.

I believe the number being accepted by the White House is the number John Hopkins puts out, which just passed 80,000.

Ive never heard them question it.
Has anyone else?

Not yet that I've heard. The problem is that, at least as far as I know, John Hopkins can really only report what's reported to them.

But at least they can be relied on to not "play with the numbers" any further (assuming that's really happening).

We're never going to know what the true numbers are. When you consider that some people were asymptomatic or had mild symptoms, got over it and never got tested there really is no way to know.

Heck, one of the daughters and I both think she may have had it. Back around Christmas she got some respiratory bug that got bad enough that she stayed home from work for a couple of days.

She's a nurse, so she just treated it herself. It went away and she forgot all about it. She and I were talking about this thing the other day and I mentioned there is thought that this thing has been in California since possibly November.

This is true and I agree for the most part. I was only stating my beliefs for my state of Michigan. We have a lot of yahoos, more every day as they get restless, who think that they don't need to follow the recommendations. These will be the first people to start doing everything they can and then push against whatever restrictions there are at that stage. I am almost certain with the attitudes here in Michigan we will have a significant second wave as I have previously stated because while maybe most will do the right thing, it doesn't take many doing the wrong thing to screw it up---and we have more than our share here.

I check out a reopen Ohio site and they are complete loons. Their main thing other than reopening is the masks. Like it's a crime against humanity to be asked to wear one. Is this the same with some in Michigan and other states?

Isn’t it true that you aren’t counted as dying from the Covid if you weren’t tested for it?
Hard to know what to believe as the extreme people on either side of this seem to just make it up as they go.

Not necessarily and that's the problem with all of the reporting on this thing.

There have been reports that folks who die of anything respiratory are being reported as Covid because hospitals get extra money for those cases.

Imo, that's the biggest problem in all of this. For every report that deaths are under reported, there's one that says they are being over reported.

For every doctor who's saying we need to be wearing masks and staying in, there's another doctor saying that the masks don't really help.

I'm not even sure the same standards are even being used county to county, let alone nationwide.
Exactly!! And the extreme people will believe anything that supports their "side"and wont believe anything on the other.

Think I mentioned this but not sure....In a reopen Ohio group they made mention that Ohio will be sending out random tests to people (I think 1200 or so in the state). This is the antibody test and you can choose to have it done or not. Of course this group says no way for any number of reasons they "heard". Most absurd was if you test positive they can come in and take your kids away and quarantine them.

Yeah, I was talking to a friend today and they asked me what I'm going to do.

I said that if we're talking just me and my son...I'd probably be out without a mask and pushing the limits on what we can do.

But, I have a wife who has health issues, a mother-in-law in her 80's and a grandson with asthma. So, I'll be hanging back a bit and probably wearing a mask for a while even after they aren't mandatory (which will piss me off lol).
Yep.

My kid has asthma too.

So, we are gonna let it ride for awhile longer.

Not just for Covid. But, because of all the Fucking pollen.

Triggers her allergies and going to get a breathing treatment is out of the question.

Plus, It's been in the 90's here.

This was one of the many examples used to compare this to the Holocaust. Because, I'm sure, even if they did take your kids they'd be moving them to concentration or death camps.

I Don’t think that is what you said.

But your logic is way off.

The purpose of Social distancing Is to keep people from getting exposed to the virus all at once. The vast majority of Americans have not been exposed to it yet because we have been social distancing.

Take that away and guess what happens?

People get exposed and people get sick.
That's my concern too.

But, it's not a one size fits all.

Arizona has around 550 deaths total.

We were one of the very last States to issue a stay at home order and when we did, it was toothless and gutless.

I'm okay with people getting haircuts with restrictions. But, opening Gyms, going to amusement parks is full on tard.

Places like New York are nowhere near ready and the folks in the great state of Florida are doomed.

That asthma can be some scary shit.

I had never had to deal with an asthma attack in my life. In fact, I don't remember even seeing someone have one.

Then, my grandson decides it's time to see how Papa reacts in an emergency and has an asthma attack with me babysitting.

So, I go "Shit", go get his inhaler the whole time muttering "fuck, fuck" because I'm nervous and don't want to screw up.

Get him his inhaler, gets back to breathing normal and he looks at me and says: "Papa...you said a bad word". Apparently, I wasn't muttering. lol

I just......Can't with this.

Perhaps they are confused about the type of positive that could cause you to loose your kid?

Meth, crack, heroine, fentanyl....yes.

Covid?

Nah.

Dude, I have a FSA spending account thru my job.

I usually put about $2500 a year in there to cover copays or just in case someone needs to go to the dentist.

Because of Covid, they have removed the necessity of needing a prescription.

So, you can use it for a plethora of things.

I bought a nebulizer at CVS and had her DR call in a prescription for the liquid albuterol.

After that, I bought a Rabbit Air purifier.

Shit works like magic.....lol

Not it wasn’t.

it was a question I asked you so that you would see the flaw in your logic.

It was a stupid question and the logic isn't flawed unless I was said O cases, which I didn't.

Not comparing other than to say that it's the same thing. Not sure how you got that from my post.

Actually, you did. You said that what I had said was the same thing as claiming it was just like the flu, which wasn't what I said.
You may have missed a "not" somewhere, but here is your quote where you said it is the same thing.

I'm not so sure a 2nd wave, if one happens, will be as bad as you think.

People have been separated for how long now? I'd think that if someone was going to get it, they'd have had it by now and recovered.

Also, as mentioned earlier, a spike in reported cases isn't what's going to be important, more testing (and more accurate testing) will almost certainly create a spike in cases.

It's hospitalizations and deaths that will need to be watched closely.

This was the comment I replied to.

Yes, your logic is incredibly flawed.

You said if someone was going to get it, they would have had it by now and recovered.

When the entire purpose of social distancing is to limit exposure and slow spread. Most people have not been exposed yet.

And the purpose of my question should be plain as day. You take away social distancing when the majority of our country has yet to be exposed and the virus spreads. The only way it wouldn’t would be if the active cases were all cleared before social distancing was lifted. And that isn’t the case.
