Approved!!!!!!!!!!!!

Traning camps to start in July!!!!!!!!

Wooohoooo!!!!!:suds:

Hate to have to wait until end of July / early August to start.... BUT.... maybe this means a short break between 19/20 and 20/21 season so we could be in serious Hockey mode from August until next June !

That would be incredible hockey mode from Aug until next June. Although, I dont know what it means for next season but we finally have a legit shot this season and i really dont want it to go to waste. Bring it on !!!!

With Bettman announcing the 2019-20 regular season as completed, I collected $50 on my 3 year bet with a Pens fan that the Flyers would finish the 2019-20 regular season ahead of the Pens in the standings.

3 yr plan :)

Based on the agreed to 24 team playoff format, it's a beautiful thing that we finished inside the top four of our conference to date. We simply play a round-robin with Boston, Tampa and Washington to determine seeding and completely avoid having to get through a best of five qualifying round.

That round in the East will be the following:

#5 Pitt vs. #12 Montreal
#6 Carolina vs. #11 NYR
#7 NYI vs. #10 Florida
#8 Toronto vs. #9 Columbus

This pretty much sucks for the teams that were in and is a blessing for the teams that were out, in my opinion.

As for our situation, we were one of the hottest teams in the Nhl when everything shut down, so we could go grab the top seed in the East if everything goes smoothly. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone if such a thing were to happen.

Ah that feeling you had three years ago that Crosby would miss a 1/3 of the season must've felt good.

Doesn't matter how it happens! I was assuming age would catch up with them and the Flyers were on the rise.

I do kind of hate the expanded playoff. Teams like Montreal shouldn't be in the playoffs. I also don't love that the play in teams will get up to speed faster than the round robin will allow for. Playing for your playoff life is going to be much more intense than those round robin games are, especially since 'home ice' doesn't mean anything.

However, the Flyers can get the top seed with 3 good games. Which is great. Playing the lower seeds would still be beneficial, even if home-ice doesn't mean anything.

Sucks for the Bruins. Bigger playoff field and their great regular season doesn't mean much in terms of standings.

I agree with the sentiment that 24 teams feels like a lot. That and with Montreal getting in, teams like Buffalo and New Jersey are going to feel like they got shafted since their overall points percentage is only .7% lower than that of the Habs.

The only downside that I see is that Pittsburgh is one of the few cities listed as one of the two potential hub cities in which games will take place. Despite the lack of fans at the arena, that would still be a bit of a bummer.

Edit: As often as we win there, it may actually be a blessing in disguise...Lol That and I'd love nothing more than to skate away with the Cup on their ice in late September or early October.

I posted on the Pelle Linbergh thread by mistake and Eville pointed out that we wont have any games in Philly. We were so good at home this season. How does this affect our team going into the playoffs?

Wisconsin junior defenseman Wyatt Kalynuk very close to signing with the Flyers organization.

if he doesn't want to earn his spot/PT...
Ghost Hagg and Braun could all be gone in the next few seasons. We have York and Zamula to step in and if he signs Kalynuk could step right in with them. Depth at defense never hurt anyone.

I agree, depth is great, but those 3 could all be back too. But you're question was why wouldn't a young player want to sign with the Flyers. He is old for his draft year. He is already 23. There will be no guarantee he makes the roster this year. If he wants a better situation where there is a clear spot open on the top 6 waiting a couple weeks to sign with the team of his choosing makes sense.
