With player like Braun coming over for two draft picks with his 3.8 million that is killing us right now.
I still think Braun will make us a better team this year. If Myers wasn't ready, and it appears he is not ready, he should be at the AHL level. The bigger problem is dressing 11 forwards on a team that isn't showing any energy. Someone will have to double shift. Without the Gudas salary retention, Farabee is up and we dress 12 forwards. If Braun turns out to really stink, they can pull an AMac on him and send him down.

The difference in play between Myers and Braun is very slight but the difference in salaries is enormous. Hes also blocking Myers development. If we make the playoffs with Braun it would been the same result with Myers in his place.

We will have to see how this plays out. Braun is a definite top 4, solid 2nd pairing guy on this and most teams. Myers is currently #8 and a 3rd pairing guy. Even without Braun, Myers is 3rd pairing at best or possibly the 7th dman. He needs to play as he has potential to be a top 4 guy. As the 6th or 7th in the NHL, he isn't going to get meaningful minutes. Better to have him on top pair at AHL and playing the PK than being a 6 - 7. Braun hasn't held Myers back this year, Myers has held Myers back.

As far as the Flyers go, I know we all are hoping for a great season, but does anybody else have a little itch going off about how solid our coaching staff will be. I really don't like any kind of decision making I've ever seen from Mike Yeo. Seems like they are still uncertain of a lot of things going into the season.
I guess it's just me:noidea:

Braun maybe 4 years ago was a solid top 4 guy, at 32 years old he is barely holding onto a a top 4 spot. Myers played with team Canada at the world cups and flourished which on our team he would be a top four if given a chance.

I really like the AV hire. Yeo was great as an assistant in Pittsburgh :puke:, so I'm hoping he will flourish in that role again.

Therrien is the one I'm concerned about. He's a hard ass, which I think will help the team more than it hurts, but I also worry that he's stuck in the past with some of his ideas/mentality. We'll have to see how it goes.

Maybe it's just Yeo as a head coach was abysmal, ya Therrien makes me a little uneasy to. Hope it works out.

Giroux-Hayes-Voracek
Lindblom-Couturier-Konecny
JvR-Laughton-Twarynski
Raffl-Bunnaman-Pitlick

Provorov-Braun
Hagg-Ghost
Sanheim-Niskanen

At practice today. I'm not sure what to make of all the jumbling on the eve of the season. They seemed to be getting pretty settled on a lineup until the Lausanne game. My guess is this is a way to send a message, since AV no longer had a bunch of cuts to make.

Pitlick's first time in the 12. Based on this and all the roster decisions yesterday, I'm guessing he plays tomorrow.

Moving Couts down cant be very good for his self esteem. I have to say if i was any other team this line up wouldn't scare me.

Fletch says at practice that Farabee is going down to the AHL. So sounds like he doesn't make the team in the early going, beat out by Twarynski.

Really hope him and Frost absolutely shred the AHL in October/November and blow the doors off. Force Fletch to bring them up.

I'm not too worried about Couturier, I think he'll handle it fine. That line could still be really good, especially if they're not playing against #1 lines.

On your second part, I have to agree honestly. Patrick being out with injury. No Frost or Farabee. Really takes a lot of the depth out of the forward group that had me excited for the season. JvR-Patrick-Farabee is a hell of a lot more exciting and threatening than JvR-Laughton-Twarynski….

The fact that Stewart is still around is def because of Yeo, that's a rooster spot that should be going to Farabee or Myers to continue to grow. What upside does Stewart bring they don't?

Only because its the first time hes done this with us but iv'e seen it before when he coached the Rags he treated Dubinsky like a whipping dog and it had big effects in the locker room.

We dont have any money to pay those guys under the cap thanks to Braun but first and foremost i dont think Stewart will be playing at all so it wouldn't benefit us to have either one of the youngsters sit instead of developing in the AHL.

Hope you and your family are safe
