2019-20 Quest for the cup(The Carter Hart era begins)

I like what Twarynski brought in camp, but talk about letting whatever air was left in the balloon out. Frost, Farabee, Myers, Rubtsov all miss out.

At least Twarysnki seems to have won the "we need a grit forward" job from guys like Gabriel, Andreoff, and Stewart.

I leave Bunnaman out of the conversation because with Patrick out they need another C. Bunnaman seems to have won that job over Vorobyev and Rubtsov a while ago.

I do wonder if some of this is message sending to the vets. Twarysnki and Bunnaman were probably the two highest effort guys (though Farabee was up there too) in camp this year. I bet they're hoping that rubs off on the vets and that they see efforts are rewarded.

So.. the Flyers announced their roster and how they'd get under the cap yesterday. Sent Myers and Farabee down to the AHL to get under the cap. AV and Fletcher have said there would be lots of movement in the first few weeks, which makes sense with Patrick, Pitlick, and Welinksi injured.

I'll be curious to see if we get any movement before tomorrow's game. Right now they only have 11 healthy forwards and 7 dmen. AV hinted that Pitlick might be ready to go Friday, which would give them 12 forwards. But I'm sure that's AV's worst case scenario. He's spent a lot of time talking about needing to be in camp, practicing, playing in preseason games, etc.

Once Welinski is healthy, they can send him down and free up space to bring Myers or Farabee back up. But for the time being, it looks like Twarynski has beaten Farabee out for 3W and Hagg has beat out Myers for the 3rd pair spot.

So its official that Justin Braun and his 3.8 million dollar salary is now standing in the way of Myers development as well as Morin along with two picks going for him. That is terrible. If he was the difference between winning the cup and not i could see it but he certainly isn't the difference. Terrible.

It's certainly disappointing. Myers still could've beat Hagg out for the last spot. I can't say I disagree with their assessment that Myers had an underwhelming preseason. Hopefully Braun makes them more competitive and helps them get in to the playoffs.

We'll see what happens in the next few weeks. AV/Fletch have both said to expect lots of roster moves in the early part of the season.

Thanks guys, it's mind blowing that just 4 years ago we had the same fire scenario, lightning strike starts a fire, they watch it keep it controlled, winds pick up they lose control and you get this.

So from what I've read, the Flyers can choose to put Patrick on LTIR and that would free enough space to add Myers or Farabee, but not both. If they go that route, Patrick will have to be out 24 days or 10 games, whichever comes first I assume.

Also regarding Pitlick, AV and Fletcher both keep saying he is not cleared yet but could be by Friday. I can't imagine him suiting up when he has only been cleared for contact for a day or two. So I'm trying to figure out what they could do with him to help the shaping of the roster if he isn't on it.

As far as the Flyers go, I know we all are hoping for a great season, but does anybody else have a little itch going off about how solid our coaching staff will be. I really don't like any kind of decision making I've ever seen from Mike Yeo. Seems like they are still uncertain of a lot of things going into the season.
