Well, Logano has a lot of precedent: Earnhardt Sr. and Terry Labonte, Jeff Gordon and Clint Bowyer, the classics, Richard Petty and David Pearson, Yarborough and the Allisons, and many more. I doubt if Logano makes it to the checkered flag here in Phoenix or even in Miami!!
I'm slightly surprised that Almirola didn't end up in the wall off of Keselowski's bumper today since it was Almirola running out of talent at Dover is what kept Keselowski out of this round.
Problem with Logano, is this is how he races anyways. Unless you are a logano fan he isnt liked very much. So it is easy for fans to jump on him for this move. Add Truex being to nice & racing him clean adds fuel to the move. I dislike Logano more than any driver out their & my initial response is you would think he would learn. Just lost another Championship for dumping a playoff contender.
but....
Upon further review.
He didnt dump him. He did move him & won the race. Now if something crazy happens & Truex doesnt make the final four. I still think he wont win the Championship, because of the move. However if Truex does make the final four. It will be just racing as usual.
Personally if it is our favorite driver that did that move. We would be ok with it (although I never agree with dumping a driver not even for a win) In fact I was more than ok with Ryan Newman using 8 tires in a final corner on Larson to get in final 4 in past. Although Larsen wasnt in the playoffs. Kenseth & Truex were.
Bottom line as much as I cant stand Logano & want to raise hell about his common move. I would have had him do the same thing. he was a fringe point player to get in. Good chance he doesnt make it without that move. Now he better pray Truex does get in. Or I believe his Championship is over.
With Stewart Haas dominating the grid here in Texas, I wonder if anyone else is going to challenge Stewart's drivers for the win other than Gibbs drivers?
