I have no idea what you're going on about here. The point is that it's Sunday at a major and some guys who should have been out of it are not because they had a huge advantage due to the much easier conditions they played under this morning.
There's really nothing that can be done about it. But it could very well result in a champion who did not play the best golf this week.
Who cares. The top players shouldn't be bleeding strokes because their games don't fit the conditions. Back in the day before the game completely sold out to the manufacturers players had to be a lot more creative with their games because every par 4 wasn't a 300+ yard blast and a short iron to the flag. And they play golf outside. I can understand bitching about a layout or a course that just isn't that good for whatever reason but bitching about the wind in the BO? That's the hallmark of this event.
If you don't think today's players are creative, I don't know what to tell you. Every one of has shots in their bag that you or I can't even imagine and they've all played in conditions far more varied that anything we've experienced.
My only point is that today the morning guys had a huge advantage. Conditions make a big difference on scoring. "Bleeding strokes" due to heavy winds and/or adverse conditions on a difficult course is standard operating procedure. That was true 60 years ago and it's true today.
I'm not saying they're not great. I'm saying that if you can't go long off the tee there's no place for you in today's game. Now we're playing in conditions where these guys are trying irons off the tee to just keep it on the fairway an they can't. Seems like the only guy left on the tour who really separates himself by a bit from the rest of the field in a particular aspect of the game is Phil with his wedge magic. That's the problem with golf today. It's bland.
