Pepperell sitting in the clubhouse at -5 might still be in this, given the conditions and the back being the tougher side. That would suck. The morning guys played a completely different course.
I hate that about the open.
It would be a farce if he were to win. 10 morning guys shot under par. Tiger is the only one under par among guys with afternoon tee times.
Ben Hogan said that controlling ball flight was one of the most important aspects of golf and these guy's just aren't that good at hitting the low ball.
Come on! Half the rounds of golf I play are in conditions like this. The real farce is that these guys are struggling so much when they're playing in less than pristine conditions.
I think he's referring to the fact that the guys who played this morning played a much easier course than the leaders who teed off later because of the conditions and that's not uncommon at The Open when the wind kicks up in the afternoon.
Weird to see Rory gaining ground today. That guy hits the highest golf ball I've ever seen. It's amazing he's able to get the yardage he does out of those irons considering how high he's hitting them.
He is a European golfer ...if he can't play with high winds it would be an embarrassment.
Tiger got a great bounce off of the crowd. That's an advantage he's always had because of the massive crowds that follow him.
I have a hard time believing that a guy like Seve Ballesteros would have given up strokes for a better starting time. I like seeing grip it and rip it golf blowing up in their faces.
