This is starting to look a little weird.
475 yard drives.
100 yard rolls.
Slow greens.

Not sure who will get the advantage here.

I believe good iron play and good imagination and short game is a great combo heading in to this week.

Not necessarily a great putter, because the flat stick can get hot.

Sergio could be a really good pick here.

If Rory is correct, the set up will really benefit the big hitters. The way this course is set up and the wind direction for the week, guys who can carry drives 300 yards can take the fairway bunkers of of play. It's an aggressive play but not as risky as it used to be.

If that holds true, this is a double whammy for Tiger. Tiger hates slow greens and he really relies on these long irons off the tee. Tiger can still bombed it with the best of them but he has real trust issues with the driver.

If your watching the coverage of the Open they have been showing these little narrated movies.

I'm a 1000% sure the guy doing the narration is none other than:

Does anybody know how to stream this live? I've tried theopen.com but when I click on live coverage, nothing happens.

Talking about his aberration on the 15th, he put it down to a "brain fart," saying his second shot was a "really, really poor decision." And as he assessed his round afterward, he said it felt like a "missed opportunity," as it brought an end to his streak of five straight rounds in the 60s at The Open, and his first over-par first round at this competition.

"I felt like I was really going well," Spieth said. "I had a nice par save after driving it in the bunker at 6. Other than that, it was very stress-free. I was putting the ball where I needed to, having maybe no more than four feet for par on every hole. It was just a clean round of golf. I've done a bit of that this year, just the decision making that's cost me.

I would not say barge thru, but yes he is too cheap with everything. Including his time.

How is that barging through? I'm not a fan of the guy but he is at work out there.

Mickelson could play until he's 70 and he'd still have one of the best short games in the world. That bunker shot he hit was insane.

Shaping up to be a good weekend of golf with some big names near the top of the leaderboard. Hoping Spieth finishes today strong. Now at -2

What the heck is the rule with that on Kisner's shot? It goes over the hazard and then bounces back in. What's the line supposed to be for the drop? I remember Tiger got bit hard for misinterpreting that one.

I'm watching but I didn't catch that. It depends upon whether it's a lateral hazard or not (red vs yellow stakes). It also depends upon whether you can find a spot over the hazard, within 2 club lengths of where the ball last crossed the margin of the hazard, that is also no closer to the hole. That depends on the configuration of the hazard in relation to the hole. But if you can do that you can drop on the hole side of the hazard, but that's only the case if it's a lateral hazard... I think. A lot of "it depends" here.

yeah, I figured it was complicated. It must have been lateral but he just cleared it (think it was just past the red stake) but it went straight back into the hazard and there's no way he could have made a drop on that side.

Bottom line, a rule I'm never going to bother following when I'm golfing.

If it's not a lateral hazard he has to go back because he has to keep the spot it entered between where he hits from next and the hole. He could also just hit from where he last hit. I think that's an option in either case, lateral or not.

Lateral hazard introduces the possibility of dropping over the hazard if he can find a spot within 2 club lengths no closer to the hole.
