The Giants have formally named Kyle Haines to take over David Bell's vacant Farm Director position.

Haines has shot through the organization like a missile. He was drafted in 2004 by the Giants, moved on in 2008, played Indy ball for a bit, then managed some Indy ball. He returned to the Giants in 2015 in Salem as their manager, jumped to Richmond the next year as a manager, then was promoted to Assistant Director of Player Development last year to now, the Director of Player Development.

They also hired Mark Allen as the minor league pitching coordinator. He's been with Cleveland the last 8 years, so a good organization to poach from.

Hunter Strickland signed a one year deal with Seattle. Only Hundley and Pence are still on the open market.

The Giants have hired two people from driveline this offseason
I would have absolutely zero problems with the Giants bringing him back in the fold. His DFA never really made sense to me.

So apparently, FZ is "uninterested" in giving Harper a long term deal, but is open to a "big money, short term" deal.

Would 120/3 get it done?

Minor league deal. Interesting.
Just about all the f.a. deals the past couple of weeks have been of that variety. Outside of about a dozen (at most) remaining free agents, I suspect many of the remaining deals will be the same.

Osich is on the DFA merry-go-round, it looks like. He was just claimed by the White Sox.

I really enjoyed Hundley's stay in SF and wouldn't have any remorse if it was extended. Hopefully he lands in a favorable situation
He did. The A's picked him up and one of their two catchers is down for an extended time to injury. He'll at least platoon for the A's.
