I see it as we took a flyer on the QB that our new WR has a great raport with already. He's a tough player with a great arm.

A few years under Ben, if we're lucky we get a surprise. Otherwise, yeah go get that blue chipper.
That's kind of where I'm at too. Like I said, I don't hate the pick in the third round. But I'm just nowhere near ready to call this our QB of the future. He's a good prospect at a decent value that probably isn't a franchise guy. That said, elite passer is within the range of outcomes for him, even if that probability is low percentage.

Noone is calling him the future of the franchise. But we need options aside from Jones and Dobbs as our future QB do we not?

well we cant win, you said it, we cant beat NE

Okay but because we can't beat New England doesn't mean we tank the entire season. As a front office, we need to be smarter about drafting, especially in the first round.

yeah most teams drafft 3 future qb's

Most teams don't have a franchise QB that stays 15+ years with the same team. Mason Rudolph is the 5th QB we've drafted since we drafted Big Ben. All I'm saying is Ben isn't getting any younger or healthier. He's probably gone from this team in no more than 2 years. We need a decent QB to learn behind him while we got him. We tried with Landry, it didn't work. They aren't giving Dobbs a fair chance to learn. We need someone. Maybe Mason Rudolph is the guy that can soak up what Ben can teach and actually put it to good use.

we got no LB help, no cb help, no DL help, and reached big for a safety, were in great shape

I agree with you. We didn't address our LB need and we fucked our first round pick. I completely agree with you. I hate our first round pick. Absolutely hate it. I wish we had traded up for Rashaan Evans. We didn't address out CB need which is a big need. It doesn't change my opinion, however, that we need a decent plan for when Ben retires. Once we didn't trade up in the 1st and we got Washington in the 2nd, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't draft an LB or CB this year. There is no decent LB or CB talent left in the draft.

do you see all the needs we have for NOW

I think our needs for the future matter more than the needs we have for the present. In the future, before the draft, our star QB and RB aren't on this team and our starting QB is now Landry Jones. A 6 year vet with 5 starts under his belt who still hasn't grasped how to play the position at the pro level yet. There was a way to address both, however. We just chose not to do so.

There was a way to get both present and future needs. Trade up for a decent LB talent in the draft. 2nd round, take CB or Safety. In hindsight, we could've gotten Justin Reid. 3rd round, grab Mason Rudolph.

Imagine that draft. Rashaan Evans, Justin Reid, Mason Rudolph. 2 now needs with future talent plus a future need to learn behind a HoF QB.
