I would've loved to see another Federer/Nadal final...but most importantly I just want Federer to win again and for Federer to finish with more Grand Slams than Nadal. So overall I'm ok with Nadal losing today.

Fed also likely gets #1 at least for a bit if he wins the tournament. Nadal would have to do 100 points better at Acapulco (if he plays) than Fed would at Dubai (if he plays). At this point, it seems unlikely Nadal will even play Acapulco.

I think hitting #1 at age 36 would be one of the greatest achievements in tennis history.

Why can’t Nadal lose like most players do...in a regular fashion. Is losing in a normal manner that detrimental to his ego and psyche? He started having the phantom pain that plagues many top players when they are losing in the last ten minutes of match. I know by saying this I am further jinxing Fed to lose against Berdych. But these are valid questions that true Nad-lovers in this forum have the answers to.

I think it’s his ego that needs treatment, not his leg. If his leg could speak he would be like “what the heck dude, I am fine! Just finish the match and lose like a champion”

Sometimes. Other times not so much. Like in the Halep / Davis match when both of them looked like they were going to die. I wish the rest of the majors would adopt the last set tie break.

They looked great, and as fit as if they had bionics.

No to tiebreaks.

Great drama, great match.

Funny. I came here to ask the same thing about Nole. If he's healthy and at 90%+ of form I think he's a no-brainer to win this with ease. He's just a master at this venue. I haven't seen him play (even on highlights) but just looking at the box scores so far I'd take him over the rest of the field even money at this point. I know the AO is sometimes viewed as the red headed stepchild of majors but he's just a monster here.

The AO has been my favorite major since 2010 or 2011.

It has the best matches.

No weather delay issues (rain).

People can come back from down a break, or more, in a set, so there's always potential drama.

I've became a huge Hyeon Chung fan over this tourney.

The Womens draw is looking great because there's still many top players left.

Kerber looks great.

The Chung vs. Tennys Sandgren Mens QF will be my favorite one.

The AO has a good mix of top players and surprise players left.

Now, now, now. The French open was really cool before Nadal hit the scene, it was maybe a little bit less cool when Nadal the "clay court specialist" was mowing people down, and it became his boring house when he was in his prime making the tournament a lot less interesting. 10 years from now when there isn't a freak tennis talent that isn't the greatest ever 2 times over on the surface isn't playing it will be cool again.

The French Open still has good non-Nadal matches.

Berdych and Monfils played a 5 setter in round 1 in 2013.

Federer and Del Potro have played 2 good matches there.

Isner played a 5 setter where he lost 18 - 16 against Henri-Mathieu in 2012.

Isner played a 5 setter where he lost 10 - 8 against Haas in 2013. Both players had match points. In the 4th set tiebreak, it kept alternating between match points and set points.

Wawrinka has also played some good matches here.

Except for the Djokovic-Wawrinka Finals in 2015, most of the FOs had its best matches before the Finals.

Watching on the DVR.

The Sandgren vs. Chung match starts with an alarm going off.

Some of the people start to evacuate.

After several minutes of discussion, the tournament referee confirms it was a false alarm.

While this was going on, Sandgren just started bouncing balls off his racquet.

Chung didn't look happy.

Play is about to start.

Hoping Chung can challenge Fed and take a set or 2 at least. I don't think the moment will be too big for him considering the big wins he already had in this tournament.

Unreal. Kerber almost lost to Hsieh who hits the ball 75 mph. Now Keys implodes to her. Svitolina was killing everyone too and loses to Mertens.:L

Keys need to stop getting embarrassed when she loses. Stephens did it to her at the Open in September and now this. At least compete. Lose 6-4 6-4 & I'll have no complaints

Halep or Woz better win this because Serena is back for the French so they may not get a chance to win another for a year or 2.
