That time of the night.
Dame Time.
4 point play to give Portland a 4 point lead

Very impressive young core, adding possibly 2 top 10 picks to that is gonna make them tough next season. Playoffs won't be a lock but they should be able to compete for a spot.Hawks had 5 first round picks in the last 3 years.
Don't think they missed on any
Trae Young, Kevin Huerter, Omari Spellman, John Collins, and DeAndre Bembry. They had acquired Taurean Prince through a draft night trade in 2016.
Trae going to be a star while Collins is on his way to becoming a top 50 player IMO before you know it. The other 4 are solid role players which is perfectly fine considering where they were drafted in round 1.
BTW only 1 of those guys were selected top 5. You can do just fine building a young core without multiple top 5 picks
Lost a number of games to bad teams with and without LeBron since the calendar turned to 2019. That along with a tough stretch of games that they didn't do well in and you have a recipe for no playoffs. Yeah they were 4th on Xmas when he went down but some of the current playoff teams looked really bad at that time too, the Lakers weren't a lock to keep a playoff spot over them if he was healthy. They weren't gonna win a title this year anyways and the plan was always to add another superstar. LeBron and his agent should have waited until the offseason to push hard for AD by sacrificing the young players. If the AD rumors never happened are the Lakers a playoffs team?
I honestly don't think they are.
I warned Lakers fans before the AD rumors even started to watch out for the Clippers because if they survived that brutal month of February, they would be a serious threat because of their favorable schedule from March on.
Clippers were 34-29 at end of February.
9-1 since to bring them to 43-30
I honestly think they would have still missed out even with Ingram/Kuzma healthy because 8th place in the West is going to end up with 47/48 wins.
Once the James injury took place and the brutal stretch the Lakers had, 47 or 48 wins was going to be extremely tough to reach.

Remember hen everyone compared Trae to Steph last year while he was at Oklahoma.
With about 10 games left in his rookie year, I'm going to say he's been better than Steph was a rookie.
So I wake up to see GS with their worst home loss under Steve Kerr. And that was with Durant playing.
There are 2 teams in the east with more road wins than Miami lol
Man we need to get to 7th.
We can challenge Toronto more than Milwaukee imo
No he wasn't. Not even close.
Steph's efficiency was off the charts for a rookie guard. he averaged 17.5, 4.5 REB, 5.9 Ast, 1.9 steals, 3 TO on 46.2% from the field, 43.7% from 3 and 88.5% from the line. All while sharing the back court with ball stopper Monta Ellis.
Trae young has more points and assists, but he is shooting 41.7% from the field, 33.6% from 3, 82.1% from the line with 4 TOs a game and he isn't as good defensively.
Trae Young has had a really good rookie season, but let's not get carried away.
Efficiency matters.
But Curry had a tough season also. I remember this vividly because I actually drafted him fourth round in a fantasy league that year. Ankle injury I think but even when he played he wasn't great
I read an article comparing rookies before fantasy basketball season started this year.
Curry produced first round fantasy value in 9 category roto leagues because of his efficiency. Only 1 other rookie in the last 20 years has done that (can't remember who). Most rookies struggle with percentages and Curry's were great.
It was year 2 where he got injured. That is probably when you had him. Because he wasn't a 4th round pick before his rookie year and he blew expectations out of the water.
Not surprised. He's a coaching lifer.....even while fighting cancer.Yes. Saw something on ESPN about it.
I think one would hope a top 5 pick should be an AS. But numbers make this a little tough. Figure the all stars come mostly from players from the previous 8-10 drafts. That's 40-50 players. Only 24 all stars.By my definition given that a top-5 pick should be at an all-star level. But he is a serviceable NBA player. I'd prefer a different player for the Heat going forward once his contract is up.
