Probably the biggest shock out of the Q so far is that the Shawinigan Cataractes and Rouyn-Noranda Huskies are tied after 2 games in R-N. Not only that but the one game the Huskies one was reasonably close (4-1).

There was an 86 point differential between the 2 teams in the regular season. The Huskies had one of the best seasons in Q history. There are only 18 teams in the Q and 16 of them make the playoffs. The 2 teams that missed this year are the last 2 league champs going through rebuilds. The Cataractes needed a point in an OT loss on the final day of the season to make the playoffs.

All that being said, this is likely a wake-up call for the Huskies who will probably blow Shawinigan out the next 3 games.

Another bit of a surprise is that the Memorial Cup hosting Halifax Mooseheads lost their 2 home games this weekend to the Quebec Remparts and find themselves down 2-0 heading back to Quebec. We could have another case of well-rested Memorial Cup hosts come May.
