It is fading away like Marty McFly's picture of his family in Back To The Future.
I'd keep Elvis, thin use Gallo, Odor and I guess Perez for a pitcher. Only pretty sure bets on this team.

Leftovers again? A few lingering thoughts as Rangers head west

Included in the Darvish deal, reportedly, is an opt-out clause after two season. That's 2018 and 2019. The Rangers open their new ballpark in 2020.

Are we going to have to go through this again in two years? Well, maybe.

There is no secret that Darvish and the Rangers feel strongly about each other. Apparently not six-year and $126 million strong, but strong. Darvish is planning to keep his home in Dallas.

It would seem that the Rangers would want a nice shiny hood ornament for Globe Life Field. And someone who could keep the fans coming in once the novelty of the new ballpark has started to wear off.

Don't dismiss that possibility just because Darvish and the Rangers couldn't come up with a deal this off-season.

I thought if this too. I am not anticipating a big splash next season either unless we find lightning in a bottle. By that time YU may have lost ace status due to age. But two years of an ace is likely a waste unless we do more then this. Houston has a day of reckoning too if they want to hold on to their players

I wonder if that scenario was discussed when Yu and JD had dinner together.

Wondering if how his trade went down to LA was discussed too. Was thinking it was a surprise.

But still wonder if Yu does bad why would he opt out but if he does great then his price may be higher. Maybe a trade is best shot to get him back at some point. Highly unlikely we get Kershaw IMO but i do think there needs to be some kind of splash to jumpstart season in new ball park. Until then it may be quiet unless we overachieve

Well, had to look into it myself. Looks like we are in for a long season. Is Bartolo Colon really one of our starters? Holy shit that guy's fat. Really swingin' for the fences with that one.

Rotation and outfield still a mess. Looks alot like last year's mess and it should since not much took place since. However, there is some potential in the OF. If Rua can learn to hit from both sides then that will help. DDJ will play somewhere because of his offense. And Maz should hold down RF with his RBI's. Tater salad.

Rotation is to ifeeee to predict. Who knows how long Beltre holds up and will Odor improve? Lot of ????.
:noidea:

This is very encouraging. This kid has a chance to be a difference maker in our rotation in 2-3 years.

Do we know that he doesn't have effective secondary pitches?

Only what he has shown us. A four seam fastball thrown mostly and a sharp break curve. Heard he has a change up and 2 seam but no seen. His FB is a bit straight at times too. I wish him well so it will be interesting what he does in ST
