Well, there's still 15 days or so ...
Meh.
WHIP for the game was south of 2.000...Cainer pitched 4.2 innings, and gave up 9 hits, no walks, struck out five, and gave up 3 ER.
?
I really doubt Cain is not the 5th starter when the season begins. There's no real competition. This was Cain's 3rd start of the spring. Beede, Blach and Suarez have made 3 starts combined this spring, thus far. However, I don't know who is starting tomorrow or Sunday, the Giants' website has TBD listed for both. With 14 games left in spring, I guess its possible the Giants start giving the ball to two or three of these guys to see what they have but the progress thus far signals that what Evans intimated is correct, there is not really a fight for this spot. It is Cain's.Cainer pitched 4.2 innings, and gave up 9 hits, no walks, struck out five, and gave up 3 ER.

It was a blue circle jerk. The only mentions they gave the Giants was about the sinking building. No mention of the big 4; no mention of Arroyo; no mention of Beede or Blach; no mention of McParker...
Not that I necessarily disagree with their conclusions (I don't predict a 10 game gap, but...), but it was just a smurf key party and nothing more.
Just don't see a spot for Ruggs. He's hitting .125 and has K'ed 11 times in 24 ABs.
Good start by the top of the lineup today: single, double, single, two early runs.
To me, that seems more like they are looking at him as a possible long reliever. Send him to AAA and call him up in case the bullpen gets worn down or need an emergency starter. Considering this article on the team website, its not hard to see that Cain has the 5th spot and Blach is a moving part - Matt Cain stays in Giants' rotation equationBlach?
Ty has piggy backed Cain in 3 of those outings and really out-pitched the same Dodger lineup that Cain somewhat labored through (one Blach actually allowed Cain's inherited runners to score).
Neither have been all that impressive tbh. I do agree that it's probably still Cainer, but ultimately I think he and Blach are just keeping that seat warm for Beede.
Parker with another homer. He also has 7 walks which leads the team, and 12 RBI which also lead the team.
Hank mentioned that he laid off a good 2-2 pitch and hit the homer on the 3-2 pitch.
Now I know that Bochy loves him some veterans but it seems hard to understand his desire for Morse to make the roster as a 5th outfielder (or 4th, platooning with Parker). "If the bat plays, you find a place for him" Bochy is quoted as saying. Sure, that makes sense in a vacuum, but considering Williamson's bat looks good too (Bochy must be coming up with some contrary statement about him "He needs some work" or something like that) and he has much more experience in the outfield the past three years while Morse quipped about playing left field "It was fun. It was like riding a bike . . . with two flat tires". I'd rather see Williamson break with the team than Morse.
Maybe I've missed it, but there's not been a lot of buzz from camp that Williamson will make it. There was some buzz over Marrero at first but it mainly seems to be Morse right now. While I agree that they should play the kids, I think that they ship Williamson to Sac and purchase Morse' contract, which mean someone gets bumped from the 40 man.I'd love to see Morse if there were no other options. But there are. I still think MacParker will be the starting LF. Play teh kids! Neither of them have anything to prove at AAA. If they are faltering by the ASB, perhaps a Morse would make sense. But I think he makes the club or retires.
