Last winter, 3 players accepted their teams QO - Matt Wieters, Brett Anderson, Colby Rasmus - and not a single one of them looks to be extended another QO this winter. Wieters and Rasmus didn't hit well and Anderson blew out his back in Spring Training. Some players declined their QO and came to regret it - Ian Desmond, Howie Kendrick.

A rough list of likely players to get a QO (teams have until 5 days after World Series to extent a QO):

Wilson Ramos (29)
Michael Saunders (30)
Edwin Encarnacion (34)
Neil Walker (31)
Justin Turner (32)
Yoenis Cespedes (31)
Ian Desmond (31)
Jose Bautista (36)
Mark Trumbo (31)
Jeremy Hellickson (30)
Kenley Jansen (29)
Dexter Fowler (31)

$17.2M is a lot of money, do you think there's a player out there who will accept an offer this year? Do Wilson Ramos, Michael Saunders, or Jeremy Hellickson even receive a QO?

The 17.2 value is based on the current CBA. There will likely be a new CBA in the coming weeks, and the QO system is one of the areas that is expected to be tweaked, so it is hard to have any real expectations until the CBA is released.

Interesting, I wonder if Bautista accepts Toronto's qualifying offer as I believe they're going to extend 1 to him.

Ignoring the salient point about the CBA

Ramos blew his ACL, he's not getting a QO since he won't be back until June.

I doubt Saunders will either.

The rest of those guys are definitely possible.

I don't think Saunders will either and I saw on the sports news this morning that Bautista has already stated he will be turning it down to test free agency. I'm fine with that. Saunders strikes out too much and frankly, Bautistas isn't worthy of a big multi year deal like he wants. I hope the Jays can re sign EE though.

I think the Orioles would be nuts to offer Wieters the QO again.

He'd have to take it after his down year.

Welp, for all this threads' talk of a CBA that won't be in effect until probably next winter, we got one!

Jeremy Hellickson accepted the Phillies' Qualifying Offer.

Wieters hasn't been good since 2012.
