I don't think this is like the Kane/JVR draft, in which Kane has become a legit superstar and JVR not so much. Both Patrick and Hischier appear to be eventual first line centers that can do it all and franchise-type players.

So, we can't really go wrong here. You obviously take whoever NJ passes on.

I think its different also because these two are centers or Hischeir will grow into center size and JVR was a winger.

Morning boys! I'm anxious to see which guy we take? Obviously the one NJ doesn't. I like both guys, just not sure who would be the better fit?

Patrick provides the size that this team needs, has a better shot, and is a better face-off guy. Hischier has the speed this team needs, is a better playmaker, and is also a left-handed shot which typically favors the RW from a passing perspective. Since the Flyers' current RWs are better than their LWs, that would probably be a plus for this team. Patrick is a right-handed shot.

Hischier is the sexy pick. Patrick is the smart pick.

That's where I'm at.

Im liking Patrick because we need size bad on this team and because he can come right in and play where as Nico probably needs another year of seasoning because of his size

Yeah, but NJ is going to take him first overall for those exact reasons...Lol

I'm not so sure. The Devils already have a few big centers in the pipeline, but lack skill on the wings to go with Hall. Will be interesting....

I heard Ray Shero on the selection show. They "need help everywhere" is about how he put it...Lol I can't argue with him on that either. That's a terrible team that we let completely maul us for the vast majority of the season. Really frustrating to watch.

The Devils were 28th in goal scoring, just one ahead of Vancouver for 29th. They literally couldn't score against anyone...except us...Lol

i'm very comfortably happy with either guy now. if the Flyers were first, i'd take Patrick, but i love the idea of either. i'm still giddy everytime i think about that fateful Saturday night at Bugsy's in Alexandria, VA

(great hockey bar if you're ever in the area btw)

We used to drive down to Williamsburg, VA every year, and used to make it a point to stop at the Virginia Beverage Company in Alexandria. I think it's out of business now but it was a small microbrewery before they became all the rage, and had good food and beer.

And yes, I'll be thrilled with either one, but would just give a slight nod to Patrick assuming nothing unusual turns up in his physical. Also, a seemingly little know fact is that Hischier dealt with an injury this year as well. I'll try to find the link referencing it.

2. (3) Nico Hischier, C – Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL): Popped big at the WJC and CHL Top Prospects game, but has tailed off slightly. Was injured and since returning has played a slightly different game. Some scouts worry about some of the fatigue he’s shown, but his skills more than compensate.
