Interesting dichotomy in Downtown Detroit ... lots of new development with Little Caesars Arena, the M1 Rail, Beacon Park, and young professionals moving into the midtown/Wayne State area. But in the middle of it all, we have four garbage professional sports teams.

Did the Tigers score any "REAL MASHERS" in the Verlander trade?

I guess no one has asked the BIG question. We all know @dougplayer is a frontrunner. Does he abandon the Detroit Tigers now? If so, does he become an Astro fan? Or maybe a White Sox fan (so he can still post on the AL Central thread)? Or does he continue to make himself look like an idiot by bashing (weakly) the Indians, while HIS team sits in the AL Central basement?

Doug has ONE thread left to hang onto -- that Verlander faces Cleveland in the deciding game of the ALCS and knocks them out of the playoffs with a win. And if that happens, we'll never hear the end of his string of superlatives.

Any word on the "Heart" rating of the prospects the Tigers got yesterday?

But, IF Verlander and the Astros get to the WS and lose.....Slinky and the Tribe fans will have a blast knocking Verlander's WS record.

I have a better shot of being the Tigers next manager than that happening.

Smart money says Franklin Perez will regularly be "breaking one off" in the Indians during the 2021 season.

Tigers throwing out some bums today

both with 6+ ERAs

Hopefully we don't go full Indians and lay offensive stinkers.

Can you be more specific? Most of the Tigers staff are bums with a 6+ ERA.

Indians are playing some great ball.

Detroit just traded its best pitcher and best hitter.

Lets hope they can keep running up that winning streak and maybe get that 1 seed.

Id much rather face the Yankees or Mariners or Angels than the Red Sox in Round 1 thats for sure. Let the Astros and the Red Sox play......

Amazing the Tribe is doing this with no Salazar, Tomlin, Miller, Chiz, Kipnis.

On 1 hand. JV and Upton trades help out the Astros(who Twins may play should they win the WC) and the Angels(who might take our post season spot.

But on the other hand we play the Tigers 7 more times and always struggle with them. Nice to have those games be easier

Mariners have a better shot the Twins to you?

no- you are definitely right.

i didnt look up the exact standings before i did that- but afterwards i did

good for the twinkies---- team has over achieved

what are your thoughts on Buxton?

I am in a pretty serious keeper league that has been going for 10+ years....i had Buxton and brought him up this year for $1...i can keep him for 6$ next year as one of my 8 keepers.....

think hes worth the 6 $ investment in a 270 dollar league?

I just took a look at the Indians' schedule for the rest of the season.
30 games. 16 home, 14 away.

14 games against DET & CHW, with a combined win% of .417, and then another 4 against KCR, who are below .500.

The remaining twelve against BAL, LAA, SEA and MIN.

That's a pleasant schedule.

Absolutely. $6 could end up being a steal.

He has to proven his hitting as come around for a longer period but he has really turned a corner.

I would definitely invest
