Word is. Iffy will talk about michigan and Ohio.
But won't tell you who will win. His viggy would start hurting. His last prediction was in 2014. He predicted he would get a mouth full at the YMCA

Danny Salazar last night. Nasty. 7 IP, 10 Ks, 0 BBs.

The Tribe starting pitching roll continues. Over the last twelve games, going back to 8/3, Indians' starters combine for:

7.17 IP/GS ~ 11.8 K/9 ~ 5.95 K/BB ~ 0.884 WHIP ~ 1.88 ERA

Roll Tribe.

Meanwhile, super-duper-mega ace Justin Verlander must have thought he was starting a World Series game last night because he shit the bed something fierce.

5 ER in 6 IP with 3 HRs coughed up.

Buxton rates at 1.4 WAR (Fangraphs; or 2.9 if you go by BB-Ref) just because of his base running and defense, and that's with him having a 69 wRC+. If he can get to being even just league average offensively, he'd be a damn good player. He has been cutting down on the strikeouts, so there might be some hope.

April: 37.3% K%
May: 31.3%
June: 28%
July: 22.9% (only 35 PA)
August: 23.1%

he has a 120 wRC+ since the ASB, though it is propped up by a .424 BABIP.

Dodgers and Astros want verlander bad. Astros have better young talent. Verlander will bring more than kluber would. Verlander could put Astros over the top

At this point, the notion that the Tigers would get anything more than the Mets got for Jay Bruce without paying Verlander's entire contract is pretty funny.

I'm sure the Detroit FO was collective cringing as Verlander pissed down his leg last night. That is, if they were even watching the game. . .

I wonder if that 3rd base ump hit those three dingers off Verlander.

The Indians could get more for Bauer than the Tigers could for Verlander.

An avatar of Miggy Cabrera? At first I thought - "Silly doug homerism." But actually, Cabrera is a microcosm of the Tigers' team and season....old, crippled, and over-paid.
Good choice, doug!

It was JV's first bad start since giving up 7 ER against the Indians on July 2. In the 7 starts in-between, his ERA was 1.91. I'm sure a few "buyers" took notice during that stretch. We'll see what happens. I'd love to see us get two of Houston's five prospects that are in the Top 100, including one Top 25, but I'm sure the Tigers will have to eat about a third of Verlander's remaining contract to do so.

Wow. Two of the top five AND only eating a third? I think you're in for a MAJOR disappointment.

Did you see what Darvish landed the Rangers? And he didn't even come with a ridiculous contract.

Trading Verlander becomes less and less likely after each 5 days. How much does a contending team want to give up in cash and prospects for fewer and fewer starts by Verlander this season? At this point, he might have 8 starts left....how much do you want to give up for for 8 (or less) starts from a FORMER ace?

Post trade deadline waive deals rarely if ever land anything more than fringe prospects and contract payoffs.

I always laugh when the fans of the team on the "raw" end of the deal ends up having a meltdown, like the Mets fans did with Jay Bruce.
