Verlander would dump Detroit in a heartbeat, if he could play in LA. Justin would stick his head between Kate's two ample pillows and motorboat all the way to Disneyland.....flipping off @dougplayer as he went.

So, I see Detroit's already lost two games. No heart-having piss drinkers.

Verlander greatness shows in 1st start ..
2 shut out IP. 2Ks. Hitting radarun 92 -95mph. 1st start.not bad. Ooo yes. He did give up a infield hit. Kluber wishes he could be like verlander!!!!

Please. During the offseason, while Hollywood hopefuls like Justin Verlander are sitting by a pool in Beverly Hills, wearing a speedo and sipping Daiquiris, badasses like Corey Kluber are killing coyotes with fastballs.

Same number of Cy Youngs, too. Of course, Kluber has a lower career ERA and is three years younger.
I hate to stoke the stat fire that is dougplayer, but he would probably point out Verlander has one more MVP than Kluber.

Perhaps that just means Kluber hasn't yet reached the same age where Verlander started losing velocity and had to change to a different kind of pitcher. Throw out Verlander's transition season (2014), and his career ERA is damn close to Kluber's (3.37 to 3.33).

Kluber also has a much smaller sample. He didn't have a 20+ start season until age 27. Verlander pitched his first full season in the bigs at age 23. We'll see where Kluber is after 2,339 MLB innings. (He's currently at 887.1)

Splitting hairs though, as they're both damn good.

I coulda sworn that bait was for Dougies, but I caught a ChiSox and a Howie. :noidea:

Posting statistics "in a vacuum" will sometimes pull me out of the woodwork.

And I know nobody cares about second place, but Verlander twice finished second in the AL Cy Young voting -- by the two closest votes in AL history. He lost 153-149 to David Price in 2012, and 137-132 to Rick Porcello last year.

Tribe is predicted for 92 wins. So doug is betting "2 large" (LMAO) they win 91 or less. HOWEVER, doug is NOT betting "2 large" that Detroit beat the 81 wins they are predicted to win!!! (Projections from Fangraph)

Thus Mr. Dougie....the Indians may not make 92 wins but you have serious reservations that Detroit will get enough wins to pass them anyhow. I crunched the numbers.
