For some reason noone seemed to notice that Jared Donaldson beat a top 15 player(Goffin). Was there some issue with Goffin (6-0 in last set)? I have not seen/heard anything.

Just did a quick google search and Goffin seem just fine. No reports of injuries or anything. Maybe he just quit on the match because he was getting his ass kicked.

Hopefully it stays this way. Saying Invest 99 is heading closer to the coast then expected. That would suck as it would hit Sunday and Monday. Keep your fingers crossed.

Venus v Kozlova not a bad game so far

Venus said afterwards that she still made too many errors.

I thought she did a good job though of getting returns in play. And it helped set up a lot of competitive return games.

Wawrinka was in the studio afterwards.

They asked him if his backhand comes naturally to him, or if he has to still work on it.

He said he still has to work on it. Some days, he says he doesn't think it's good, so he works even more at it, as he does any shot he doesn't think is doing well in practice that day. He says he has to keep working at it.

They also mentioned that he's been to 2 USO SFs, and asked what he has to do to take the next step. He said in 2015 vs. FED, he got outplayed and wasn't on the same level that day. In 2013 vs. Djokovic, he had his chances but said it was his first GS SFs and that maybe he wasn't ready.

He also said even though he got to the SF last year, that it was probably more about having an easy draw, and that he didn't like his form last year at the USO. He said he feels much better about his game right now.

Wasn't able to get Friday off. Too late to request it. I feel like the first Friday/Saturday is the best day to be there. You get to see a ton of matches on the outside courts and there's a lot of competitive matches as it is the 3rd round at that point. I can't do Saturday because I need to be home enjoying opening day of CFB so Friday was my only option

I'm heading there Friday for just the reasons you mentioned. In the past I would go to the 2nd Friday (Day session) and watch the 2 womens semis but now I like having action on all the courts

61 aces seems like a small amount, for Karlovic.

I've seen Karlovic have more aces at other majors. Even in losses.

Ok, I mis-remembered a little. This was 55 aces in a loss to Hewitt at the 2009 FO. I had thought it was 70 something.

Oh, I see. The 78 ace match was a Davis Cup match. I guess that's not a major, so it doesn't count the same for most aces in a major match (outside of the Isner-Mahut one).
