2016 Patriots cuts and moves leading up to 53 man roster

The New England Patriots have released veteran defensive lineman Terrance Knighton.

Center Bryan Stork has failed his physical with the Washington Redskins, nullifying a trade they made with the New England Patriots last week, a source told ESPN.

It is uncertain why he failed the physical, but Stork has suffered multiple concussions in his first two seasons.

Maybe he was too big an asshole to accept the trade and intentionally failed his physical.

Who wants to go from the Pats to the skins for the same money?

With center Bryan Stork reverting back to the Patriots after failing his physical in Washington, New England has officially waived Stork on Monday. The team also placed guard Tre' Jackson on the reserve/PUP list, meaning he will be out for at least the first six games of the season.

Just went through the NFL Tracker to see who's been cut so far. Saw three former Patriots were cut over the past 24 hours......Sergio Brown S ATL, Josh Boyce WR CLE and Brandon Browner SEA.

Over the next 2.5 hours, many a life's dream will be ended. Very possible a life or two may be resurrected.

According to TheMMQB.com New England was “shopping” fourth-year former second-round pick wide receiver Aaron Dobson.

Dobson caught 37 passes with four touchdowns as a rookie out of Marshall in 2013, but finished each of the last two seasons on injured reserve, catching a combined total of 16 passes in 12 games in 2014-15.

The Patriots have informed rookie LB Kamu Grugier-Hill (6th round, Eastern Illinois) of their intention to waive him. The move comes as a surprise of sorts, as Grugier-Hill was a core special teamer. If he clears waivers, he is a strong candidate to return on the practice squad.

The Patriots have informed undrafted CB Cre'Von LeBlanc that he is being waived today. LeBlanc made what Bill Belichick called a "special" interception in the preseason opener but was sidelined for the finale with an injury. If he clears waivers and is healthy, he could be a candidate for the practice squad.

The Patriots informed WR Aaron Dobson that he is being waived. The 2013 second-round pick from Marshall was the intended target on Tom Brady's interception in Thursday's preseason finale, which was a reflection of how things didn't work out for Dobson.

The Pats have cut guard Chris Barker and safety Vinnie Sunseri, according to sources. They're down to 58 players with 45 minutes to go before the deadline. The Pats told Barker they'd like to keep him on the practice squad if he clears waivers. This could be a good sign for Ted Karras.

With all the WR's being cut, it looks like BB plans to add at least one body from off the waiver wire. Keenan Reynolds is supposed to be cut from the Ravens, so he is a possibility as a flanker, especially if Dola starts the season on PUP. Would also like to see another big RB to back up Blount.

The Patriots cut 2015 third-round pick Geneo Grissom, who had a tough preseason. Rob Ninkovich's suspension wasn't enough to preserve Grissom's roster spot. It'd be a surprise if he cleared waivers due to his draft stock, but who knows.

The Pats are down to 54 players.
