Thompson and Mozgov have almost IDENTICAL years and cash remaining on their deals.

Tristan Thompson is 25 coming off 2 straight Finals where he averaged a double double and the Cavs would NOT have won that title without him.

...and if TT was a free agent this year, he would be getting a HUGE deal. He is the better player clearly, he just signed his long term deal the wrong year. Cavs would be hamstrung to keep him had he waited.

you could get a boatload for Vucevic with his contract and skill set.....shit...if i were the Lakers I would have offered something big time for him before i paid mozgov....that wouldve been an amazing fit.

That would require him actually being available for a trade. Even with the Biyombo signing, we don't know if they are going to look to move Vucevic. With his skill set, maybe they look to slide him over to PF and bring Gordon off the bench?

That's true.
Apparently Lakers clearly wanted Mozgov over Biyombo, and in their head knew what they were willing to offer.

Maybe just to solidify the whole "Boston sports culture thing"? :noidea:

Maybe he just showed up and isn't even going to the meeting. I agree it's tacky and kind of pointless, you would think Danny would know that too.

Tacky and pointless is the Celtics motto. :heh:

Dude, the stands are always empty now.

It's kinda sad.

But, it's like the old days with the Clippers.

But the nosebleed $15 seats, move down to the 10th row....lol

Seriously, on televised games, they BEG YOU to move.

Nice. Sucks that the stands are almost empty with a team that good.

True.

But, they traded for Ibaka and signed Green.

No PF minutes available.

I think he gets traded for a shooter.

That makes total sense, but the owners cannot be happy with what is going on in the current system, unless money vs chance to win is their only concern.

If they go to another lockout, who needs to concede first?
The billionaire owners or the players?

After next Season, they will lock the players out.

Gonna be interesting to see who folds first. But, I say......

The players.

Most of these guys aren't great budgeting money.

From what I've heard, Luke and Brian Shaw actually wanted Mozgov more than the FO. I assume that means they feel they can use him.

At first I was surprised at how fast the Mozgov deal happened. But when you consider that they already knew they weren't going to be getting Whiteside, Horford or Noah...there really wasn't any point in wasting time.

They agreed to a deal with Clarkson. If they hold off on the actual signing, they can use more cap space, then go over by the difference between his cap hold and contract to sign him.

Oh yeah, they can't officially sign him until the 7th. Didn't think about holding off on signing to use more cap space.

Actually, the more I think about it, they may not be able to do that with Clarkson. The Lakers don't hold his Bird rights (the whole reason he was under the Arenas rule), so they can't go over to sign him?

With Biyombo going to the Magic on a $72M deal, don't be surprised if Raptors try to lure Pau Gasol

He's considering Portland.

Dame and CJ are good.

But, Orlando has more mismatched pieces with Fournier, Ibaka, Gordon, Biyombo, Green.

So, why not if they offer big money like the Blazers??

I'm just not sure where they came up with that dollar amount.
There wasn't time for other offers.
His last years resume wasn't that good.
But, one would have to assume they knew market value.

Yeah, from what we're seeing, it's pretty much market value (which seems weird to type). I read where the $16 million he's getting under this cap is the equivalent of $10 million under the previous one.
