The SEC's down as far as what I would consider to be legitimate contenders this year, but the overall depth is probably still the best. I'm with you on the Big 10's Big 3 though, best in college football.
I agree, depth is certainly the best when we're comparing mid-tier teams. But when we're factoring elite teams, which conferences are generally measured by you have the following contenders by numbers per conference:
Pac-12: 1 (UW)
SEC: 1 (Bama)
ACC: 2 (Clemson and Louisville)
Big 10: 3 (Ohio St, Michigan, Wisconsin)
Big 12: 0 (maybe Baylor and they're schedule's been weak)
