Rams are doing a fantastic job in free agency thus far. Looks like another losing season is ahead as we start the Los Angeles era. Gone, Jenkins, McCloud, Lil' Animal, Long, Cook, This effin' front office sucks moose balls!

And all those guys, only regret is McLeod. And there are better safeties still on the market.

3 of those were intentional and solid decisions. Jenkins got way overpaid. McLeon does sting a little.

This doesn't bother me either. That's too much money IMO. We can find another fill-in type FS that will be good with the front 7 we will have.

Don't get too panicky fellas. We have depth at CB and Safety. Right now, E.J. Gaines moves into Jenkins slot with back-up by Joyner and Roberson who have quietly been developing into pretty good corners. No need to rush out and sign a FA to fill in McCleod's spot either.

Initially, I too was surprised by the McCleod loss but after reading some suggestions on WalterFootball and SBNation, everyone has forgotten about a developing safety that hits harder than McCleod. That would be the ex-janitor, Maurice Alexander who is penciled into McCLeod's spot. Suddenly we aren't as bad off as initially perceived on defense. We must now re-sign Barron, Hayes, and Sims with that cap money. If we loose one or all of those guys we will be in not-so-good of shape as originally perceived.

I disagree SE. We actually have very good depth to handle the Jenkins and McCleod losses and some sports sites are suggesting that we will add two compensatory picks to add yet more secondary depth at corner and Safety. So we are looking pretty good right now. Maurice Alexander is ready to move into McCleod's spot and E.J. Gaines in Jenkins spot with back-up from Joyner and Roberson. I see this to be a pretty good year again on Defense. We do need to re-sign Sims, Hayes, and Barron to keep the D stout.

Let him go. WE need to continue to re-vamp our offense with better players than we now have. Let him go and find better players elsewhere.

Bruce Ariens here in Phoenix has the proper approach to FA. He stated recently that it is absolutely ridiculous and stupid to rush around signing FAs just to show the rest of the league that you are doing something to change your team.

Ariens stated it is simply unwise on many levels to throw money at people, who historically provide little benefit to your team that you developed when it is all said and done. Ariens said that it is better to find people who fit well in your system through development in the draft then to throw money at people who usually don't provide the return on investment that teams think they get with FAs. I agree. Jake Long comes to mind.

I really like Alexander as well. He played well when given the opportunity last year. Hopefully he develops some ball hawk skills to go along with his heavy hits.

Spot on RamsFan88. This is exactly the opinion of Snisher and Gregg Williams. The Rams didn't put up much of a fight to keep McCleod for those very reasons. I think we are going to be pleasantly surprised at the development status Alexander will demonstrate on the field in a few short months.

We're going to need $$$ for Donald, Austin and Gurley in the next few seasons.

Could just as well be Joyner who moves to FS. He played there in college.

I didn't know Dexter McLeon was a free agent. LMAO!

He definitely is! Well-rested as well!

McLeon, McLeod, close enough. Better than McCloud, which I've seen a bunch of times lol.

Lest anyone think we should rush out and sign a FA just for the sake of signing somebody. Here is our track record of high-priced FAs that have failed miserably for the Rams.

Jake Long, Jared Cook, Scott Wells and Cortland Finnegan. All of them sucked and took us to cleaners for big money if anyone remembers. To state the obvious. Our track record has been absolutely abysmal.

SBNation has suggested in a recent article that Snisher has learned their lesson and the author doubts the Rams will be doing much of anything in FA this year even with all that cap money. In fact, as has already been stated, the Rams are planning for the time when Donald and Gurley become FAs and they may actually save money now and in the years to come for that purpose.
