They had a really great chance of avoiding San Antonio/Golden State in round 1 which means they had a solid chance to make it to the 2nd round. Now they likely finish 7th and play one of those teams. Huge difference

Yeah but losing one of your only good players outside of Russ for 2 months is obviously going to hurt. When Oladipo went down for a few weeks earlier, they looked like a different team and not in a good way. I expect the same to happen without Kanter.

I wouldn't say it is a meaningless difference. Teams in the middle of the playoffs take pride in being able to win a playoffs series especially this being Russ first year without KD and not having a great roster. I think Russ and the Thunder organization would love to have a series win this year. Not every team goal is championship or bust. For a team like the Thunder, I could easily see them setting their goal this year to make the playoffs and win at least a series. This injury puts them in a tough spot to accomplish this goal.

sure if they could just be given it-

but i think they proved last year that at the end of the day it doesent matter whether they have home court or not---- that actually getting to the Finals rested and healthy is MUCH more important than an extra home game.
