Didn't see a thread for this.

The A's signed Cody Ross : Bay Area return for Ross - SFGate

In only 2 games (6 PAs) he already has at least as many RBIs (2) than every Giants except Crawford and Posey.

Thanks; that's right. So Brownie is on the Cards 40 man, and if they cut him he gets offered back to us.

1) That's not the way it works at all - it wasn't a rule 5 draft
2) Brown has 2 option years remaining (this current year, and next year). So no - he's not coming back.

Now I'm confused. If he has two option years remaining, why didn't we option him?

Because at the time, they needed the 40-man slot for Maxwell.

I assume Maxwell had an out clause in his contract that forced the Giants to clear the spot before they had decided to let EA go.

That, or they were simply done with the kid. I certainly got the sense that they were frustrated with him.

they needed a spot on the 40-man, and the only way to do that in 1 day is to DFA somebody.

Panda still with no HRs. In fact, his only hits are singles.

Like the idea of this thread. Too bad it died off. I'm one of those guys that likes to know where former Giants went.

Okay, last old thread I'll drag up (for now at least).

Dude, have at it. You have missed a couple years.

Make sure to check out the stickies threads. 3, in particular, are awful fun reading. I think you may actually be mentioned in some of them.

Even in your absence, you were always on this ride with us...

Just read through the 2010 and 2012 clinching games threads. Great to re-live those memories of the games. Saw that Stokes had a shout out to me in the 2012 thread. Thanks for thinking of me guys.
