Team Lefty critique

QB -
Drew Brees (rd 8)- I know he lost Graham and Stills, but it's still Drew Brees. He passed for lots of yards and TD's before those guys were even around. If he 'only' averages 300yds and 2 TD's - I'm good with that. Happy to get him for the value.
Carson Palmer (rd 12) - An injury risk here but a guy I just have to pull for. If the leg brace works out and he can manage to stay upright, he'll be a fine compliment to Brees. Actually wanted Flacco here. Having missed on him, toyed with going more 'safe' with Bortles but just couldn't bring myself to do it. Besides, the Jags seem to be a snake bit team.

RB -
Lamar Miller (rd 3) - Since I went WR/WR with my first 2 picks, he was the best available on my board with all the stud RB's taken long beforehand. Potential is there for RB 1 numbers and the upgrades to receiving core will make life a bit easier for him.
Melvin Gordon (rd 4) - Again next best available on my board. Toyed with getting my third receiver but didn't feel I could wait another 23 picks for my second RB. Highly talented and potential as early down and goal-line back sounds good to me. Fact that he's a rookie is somewhat concerning.
Andre Ellington (rd 5) - Simply the best available option on my board and bye week worked out fine. High talent, but injury risk. Could be a steal in the 5th or leave me high and dry as the season goes on. Palmer on the field will help.
Shane Vereen (rd 14) - Only Jennings standing in his way. 3rd down guy that may also play some slot or a bigger role if Jennings goes down. Wanted David Johnson here but got aced out.

WR -
Antonio Brown (Rd 1) - Surprised he was there but everyone was grabbing RB's early. Can't say enough about the guy. Great receiver, great scheme. Happy, happy, happy.
Demaryius Thomas (rd 2) - Talent and potential was too great to pass even with Manning's floaters. Has never been less than WR 5 in total fantasy points and I don't figure that will change this year.
Brandon Marshall (rd 6) - Have mixed emotions on this one but the guy is so talented. Hope that someone other than EJ is throwing to him - although he is used to an erratic QB. Probably will work out just fine as a #3 receiver.
Alan Robinson (rd 7) - best overall Jags receiver and posed for a breakout if Bortles improves. Upgraded running game should help. Bye week replacement or #3.

TE -
Antonio Gates (rd 10) - What can I say, the old guy just catches TD's. Age is a big concern forcing me to draft a second TE.
Delanie Walker (rd 11) - Started to just roll with Gates but couldn't pass on his potential. Rookie QB's generally like the TE plus he is probably the highest upside receiver in TEN. After getting him I probably could have done something different in Rd 10.

DST - Patriots (rd 9) - They invested almost all their draft picks on defense to improve an already solid unit. Hoodie will be pissed this year which will reflect in the defense playing tough all season. The week 6 game at Indy is a bit scary though. Other than that, looks pretty darn good.

K - Connor Barth (rd 13)- plays for Denver so opportunities will be there. Accuracy was good last year. Wanted Tucker but again missed.

All in all, I think it's a pretty solid team. There were several guys I had targeted but waited one rd too long. Looking ahead 1 rd is tough enough with you guys but 2 is near impossible. Key rookies need to come through and veteran need to stay healthy - which is pretty much always the case. I give it a B.
