I don't think day one is the best day. Most of those moves are somewhat predictable.

I am ready. I am giving everyone on my crew a short day & hopefully we will all be at home/bar with some food/drinks by the time the Cards pick at around 5pm local time.

The Cards can go in a variety of directions with the #24 pick. I trust Keim/Arians with whoever they choose. I have a feeling that if either Gregory or Ray drop to them, they might select either one. And I am okay with that if they do select one of those guys or pass on them. This regime has successfully drafted talented guys with character issues before.

The way the last bunch of drafts have gone, outside of Luck, no one is guaranteed. Some have panned out well but there were lots of question marks prior to them being drafted and showing that they belong as starters. Pretty much most college QBs are mediocre in the NFL when they are hyped up like these two. Most seem to pan out as diamonds in the rough. Its about the expectations on where they are drafted.

If Mariota is drafted 2nd overall people expect him to be like Rodgers right away. If he is drafted in the 4th round and has a good year, say above average like a Stafford type, then he is celebrated. Being drafted 2nd overall they'll expect better than Stafford right away.

If they trade up for MM. I give up.

If they trade up and get Philip Rivers somehow, that would be legit.

I guess I am used to the shitty drafting after all these years

Really? So can you tell me who the top-5 picks will be and what teams they will go to? Even the top analyst in the country get less than 50% of the picks right for the first round. Heck I think McShay said he only got 6 picks right last year in the 1st round. A big part of that is just the unknown of trades and some of it being he can't always pick the player he knows is going to a team because he wants to protect his sources that have told him who they are picking but still the 1st round through the 7th round in my opinion has intrigue the whole way.

I dont want any part of Bradford. I dont know what to believe, there are so many different rumors.

I am fine with either trading for Rivers or keeping our picks and getting a big-time WR

As for the Broncos the early rounds have been a lot of really big hits and really bad misses. Not sure what to think at this time. Bronco fans always say "In Elway we trust" but with the draft he definitely does it a bit different than most of the fans would.

I want nothing to do with Rivers. He's 33, and he isn't coming to a team that's ready to succeed right away. He'd flounder.

I REALLY want nothing to do with Bradford. I still have no idea what the fuck people are seeing in this kid. His career best year is 21 TD/13 INT. That's shit. He's also made of glass and will be 28 this season. Jesus fuck, please no.

I want nothing to do with moving up for Mariotta. He's a great kid, but not for Cleveland. Also, there's literally never been a time in NFL history where a team has bundled up 3+ early picks for 1 early pick and had it work. Herschel Walker, Ricky Williams, RG3...there you have it.

My ideal night:

12: Danny Shelton
19: Jaelen Strong

How many guys coming out of spread offenses ever know much about 3,5,7 step footwork, working a pocket, second and third receiver reads based on defensive schemes, and ability to throw receivers open versus waiting for them to get open? They're all projects, with the attached risks.

So in what order do you think these guys will go:

Shane Ray - Pot, ejected from biggest game
Randy Gregory - underweight, lots of Pot
DGB - domestic dispute, raw, Pot
Marcus Peters - Locker room cancer
L'ael Collins - I guess he is currently innocent?

I would say
1) Marcus Peters
2) Randy Gregory
3) DGB
4) Shane Ray
5) La'el Collins

We already know the biggest needs for almost every team. The player may not be exactly the person you expect but you still have an expectation for the side of the ball, position, and what schemes prospects have been successful with.

I'm used to the Dolphins doing head-scratching things in the draft, so it won't be anything new. Just more facepalming. Though I will say that they nailed it on Tannehill and I did love that pick, but that's about it. The Dolphins are a running joke when it comes to the draft.

Oh and I just want to throw a name out there. Ameer Abdullah. We're finally talking about first round running backs again, and this guy is going to slip through the cracks? He can do it all. I was listening to draft coverage on the radio and they said he's not one of those "bell cow" backs. I'm like....Did you not watch any Nebraska? Abdullah carried that crap offense. I'm going to go ahead and go on the books saying that Abdullah will have just as good if not, a better career than Melvin Gordon.
