Dante is back helping with scouting and attending the combine... which means the Pats will be likely looking to go OL.

That explains why BB told his staff they did not need to attend the combine, Dante will handle fine tuning their picks.

I don't agree with drafting another RB. The pats are fine as long as Vareen stays on board. One of the great strengths of this team last season, was the ability for the offense to adjusts backs depending on the opposing defense. Weak against the run? Send in bruiser backs like Blount and Gray. Strong run D? Send in speedy backs like Vareen and Boldin.

It depends on who is there to be honest with you. If Vereen is not back, then maybe a 3 down RB would be the way to go. Blount, Gray, Gaffney, White....doesn't really make me feel all the comfortable. I think it will be hard to bring Vereen back. I am seeing numbers of 4yr around 10m/yr. Not sure we can do that and bring back Revis and all the other guys we want back. I like the RB this yr, and a few can catch the ball. Would eliminate the "need" for a 3rd down RB.

I like Scherff. He seems like a BB guy. There was a break down of him already on the 1st page. I have not seen much tape on him, but then again I have not started to watch a lot of tape. I will after the combine. So I will know more after that.

Just saw Schreff run his second 40 yard dash and now the league is also timing the first 10 yard burst. The fastest time so far is 1.74 sec. and Schreff did 1.79. Guy is big, 13" hands and 37" arms.

It's not really exciting but watching Belichick sitting next to Dante Scarneccia eating Nachos is worth the watch. The cameras were on him when Schreff got into the the block. BB licked his fingers and he and Dante leaned forward to watch.

Oh yeah, Bill's wearing a gray hoodie..........lettering on it is "Bill Belichick Foundation". Wonder how many of those puppies get snatched up today??

he sounds like a guy who will be long gone before the Pats get out of the block on draft day, unfortunately.

I do believe when the Pats show an interest in a prospect their draft status rises.

Scherff is not a guy that will make it to 32nd. Heck I've seen him top-10 in some mocks. So unless something doesn't go well in the interviews or some medical issue comes up his tape shows a top-20 pick and with so many teams needing OL help there is a good chance it is the #1 position drafted this year in the 1st round. Good chance something like 7-8 OT's get drafted in the 1st round.

Not sure where you are seeing him now being top-5? He is definitely rising up some draft boards but he is more going from late round prospect to mid-round prospect from what I have seen. Looking more like a 3rd or 4th round type pick.

He injured his hamstring running the 40. Hopefully it's not serious.

NFLAM did a segment on him. They said he Ali Marpet has all the tools to be a good starter and could surprise at the combine. He played tackle but think he best fits as a guard.

I watched some of the OL. I have a hard time getting into it with them. I like game tape on these guys. I thought the OT guys were a little more fluid than the inside guys. The kid from Pitt was looking good, but he will be gone before NE picks. I would like them to take an OG.

I thought the TE that were there were OK. Williams from Minn was clearly the best TE. O'Leary from FSU was the second best I thought. He does not have the speed, but man his hands are gold, king of reminded me of Dallas Clark. I think a few did not partake in the events today. The kid from Rutgers and OSU. One kid that caught my eye was Wes Saxton. Good speed, decent hands. Might be worth a look in the later rds. I don't expect a TE to come off the board before the end of Rd 2.

After watching the combine and most of the OL had gone through the 40 for the second time, Mayock's top OL were list and Marpet was 4th in his top 5. Typical of these draft gurus, they have a top 10 list before the draft and three or four guys either lift 225 50 times, run a 40 in under 4 second or something and he was a "sleeper" who has shown more promise under pressure.....I was reading a predraft magazine the other day and Scherff was list about 5th or 6th and Marpet was on page 3 or 4 of the OL.

I like Scherff too. I think he will go before 32. The hamstring problem is a training problem. Will that make him drop to 32? Doubt it.....
