No love for Timo Meier?? Everything ive read about this kid seems incredible, yet everyone has sharks going with Crouse (I really fucking hope not)... Why no love for Meier, seems shocking hed be ranked 12-13 considering all ive read on him....
I really hope thats who they draft.

Not a huge fan of Meier at #9. If the Sharks were picking in the 15-20 range sure.

Some actual Sharks news, they have now interviewed Marner for times and Provorov three. That is an unusual amount of time to spend on prospects who are expected to be off the board by the 9th pick. If the Sharks trade up in this draft those are the two I wouldn't mind seeing them give up assets to get.

Bruins are doing a pretty good job in trades, yeah the Hamilton deal seemed bad but now they have 13,14,15 in the first round in a deep draft. They rebuild right

Hanifin still available at #5. Wilson needs to get on that.

Dammit. Provorov was the player I really wanted the Sharks to draft.

meier. Great. Another forward ranked lower.
So now we have goldobin, tierney, hertl, nieto, etc.

And on D, we have.... Nothing. Mueller is the closest to NHL quality under 25, but really, he's borderline right now. The sharks really needed to stack the D, and they just totally and completely missed.

Oh well, just another step in the decline of the San Jose Sharks franchise.

everyone I read said meier is more of a 12-14th overall pick, while rantanen was much higher. Why do the sharks always pass over the higher player? Admittedly, sometimes it works, but they have missed out on some pretty good players ranked higher.

Well, the best thing I can say about this is at least they didn't pick Crouse...

I don't know why anyone's surprised with the usual safe bet pick, I'd rather them of traded it for talbot that's a better deal lol

I'm not sure I'd lable Meier as a safe pick. He's got a good skill level and hockey sense but his production was largely a product of environment playing with Ehlers.

Sharks would have been better off trading down to pick up more picks.

Yeah, I woulda liked them to move down 3-4 spots if such an option was available. The sharks need more quality prospects and once the 3 D were gone, the next 5+ picks are kind of a wash.

Dougie didnt get max value for his pick, which is really what bugs me.

What the hell are the sharks gunna do 2-3 years from now on their D? Mueller is the only real D prospect they have. Bergman a bit, I guess. Braun and vlasic are already 28. Burns is 30. Barring several trades for top young Dmen, they are going to suck for a decade with their farm. the forwards are good, but top Dmen are harder to find and the sharks may not have a single top 4 defenseman anywhere in their system. What a disaster this team is quickly becoming. so sad...

They better hit the Dman jackpot in the later rounds...

"Timo is about power, skill and undeniable determination. He can beat you multiple ways either with finesse or power. He has astute awareness of how to play off his lineNmates and take advantage of opportunities. Relentless in his approach and potential to be an elite power player."

If any of that's true I like the pick

You beat me to it. Bad value play by dougie...

I have absolutely no optimism about the future whatsoever right now...

on another note, apparently dougie has switched from one obscure euro hockey country (germany) to another (swiss).

That's the draft though it's always a crap shoot, the Sharks have a lot of picks in second round this year and a total of 8 so anything can happen and as guys like pavelski and nanny have proven the Sharks are good at finding late round gems

He is not much of a power player. He has decient size to be able to play that way but he rarely showed that style. I will give him credit in that he is able to adjust his offensive style, playmaker or goal scorer, based on his line mates strengths.
