Is that...cabbage?
With the draft lottery today at 4:30 I figure it's a good time to put this up.
Sharks Lottery Odds
5% for the 1st overall pick
83% for the 9th overall pick
12% for the 10th overall pick
Picks Held by Sharks
1st Round - (1st, 9th, or 10th Overall) Sharks own pick
2nd Round - (39th Overall) Sharks own pick
3rd Round - None
4th Round - (106th Overall) From Calgary in the TJ Galiardi trade
5th Round - (130th Overall) Sharks own pick
5th Round - (143rd Overall) From the Islanders for the negotiating rights to Dan Boyle
6th Round - (160th Overall) Sharks own pick
7th Round - (190th Overall) Sharks own Pick
7th Round - (203rd Overall) From the Islanders for Tyler Kennedy. This pick becomes a 3rd in 2016 if the Islanders win the cup and Kennedy plays in more than 50% of the games in the finals.
If the Sharks don't win the lottery to pick 1st overall the players I'd like to see them draft in order of preference are:
Ivan Provorov (Left Defense) Brandon Wheat Kings - WHL
Zach Werenski (Left Defense) University of Michigan - NCAA
Mikko Rantanen - Right Wing) TPS Turku - SM Liiga
Kyle Connor (Center/Left Wing) - Youngstown Phantoms - USHL
Mathew Barzal (Center) Seattle Thunderbirds - WHL
Pavel Zacha (Center) Sarnia Sting - OHL
The one player I don't want to see them pick at 9th or 10th is Lawson Crouse. Not that he'd be a bad pick, he's a very good player, he's just the "safe pick". A player who's good at everything but great at nothing.
My off the board pick is Oliver Kylington. He is arguably the most dynamic offensive dman in this draft. He draws many comparisons to Erik Karlsson. His draft position is slipping because of off ice issues. I wouldn't mind him at 9th but would be extactic if he fell to the 2nd round and the Sharks were able to get him at 39th.
